So, I bought the item pack dlc and got this awesome ring called The Guardian's Weighted Backhander, wich is exclusive to Aveline and has the "immunity to critical hits" property. Now, there is also a skill in Weapon and Shield tree called Safeguard, wich also makes Aveline immune to critical hits. So, combining Safeguard with the ring would make it redundant, right?

You would only need one or the other. If you use the ring it will free up another skill point that you can use on something else.

Unless you want to use her to get the weapons mastery achievement (master a weapon tree), I guess. I did because I forgot about the ring, then had her quaff a Maker's Sigh once I noticed.
