I like Hawke as a character but i always feel proud to be playing with a Grey Warden fighting the Darkspawn. They are respect by everyone :D

Well, you know...except by Loghain...Arl Howe...everyone who asks you to do something for them before they honor the treaties...

Oh, I know. Compared to at least 90% of what I have encountered, Hawke is a lead I can relate to in many ways. Can't say the same for the games mentioned above. Including Geralt of Rivia. (Whom I love but whom I'll never be able to RP as "my" character. Forced romance.......real dealbreaker when it comes to immersion & RP.)

I liked my PC in Divinity II: Ego Draconis.

My least liked RPG PC is still Shepard.

I must have screamed WTF WTF I CANT BELIEVE THAT! at Shepard MANY TIMES,
Could just be the Cerberus railroading, and the forced reactions to events that bug me though.

Shepard: OMG THE COLLECTORS ARE PROTHEANS!!!!!! DUN DUN UNHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Me:..... how did you not see that coming?

You cannot choose your blood family in real life either. And connect to them or not. (I hate most of mine, save for my Dad, brother & sister)

You CAN choose however who you end up in bed with. When I picked Shani in TW1, I do not want its sequel to force me into bed with Triss.

In the same way people say Hawke "didn't feel like their character" I feel like the Warden wasn't a character at all.

So I suppose that would be a yes from me.

I understand.

I can't relate to him at all, nor can I respect him, nor do I like him. As such, playing as him brings me a good deal of displeasure.

My Warden only became a unique character in my imagination/fan fiction. Hawke needed some imagination but was fleshed out far more by the game itself. (Tone/behavior/relationships)

Fine by me. Some people like champagne, others like caviar. I like both.

Everyone is saying that Hawke didn't have as much of an influence as the Warden did. I agree and disagree. I will completely agree if you add "yet" to the end of the statement. Hawke's story is not finished yet. So he may very well have a gigantanormous influence on the world.

How so? You could add your own voice onto The Warden(like I do all of the silent PCs i've played. Except for Nameless One. He's male by default).

It wasn't just that my family was forced on me, a lot of the supposedly meaningful interactions with your family members were forced, and a lot didn't even fit or gel in any way with what was going on in the game at the time. Half the time I was just sitting there like WTF.

While I'd have liked more of an Intro/Origin with the family, I can't say that any of that happened with any of my Hawkes. I wanted more family interaction based on what I saw.

But if you mean DA2 and the other game that will not be named. I love one and greatly dislike the other.

Agreed! Why have a family if you aren't going to introduce them in a proper manner?

I meant those two, yes. I love 'em both for very different reasons and each did several things better than the other. If those virtues were to be merged, I'd be in RPG heaven.

Yep. Why not give each Hawke class an Origin? I.E. Mage Origin hiding from the Templars etc. Or Warrior Hawke protecting Bethany etc. Would have been brill IMO.

Or a Rogue pick-pocketing in order to bring some food on the table. Speaking of pick-pocketing, why on Earth was that not in DA2? A rogue is not a rogue without pick-pocketing!

I never used it much in DAO but I did wonder just why that talent was taken out. Another idea for Warrior/Rogue Hawke: Use their survival/flight from Ostagar in the Origins! The dramatic impact would be amazing.

I agree 100%.  Rogue is my favorite class.  I understand why in Act I.  However, rogues could have found a book or some other relics to give the skill back.  I really missed this playing a rogue.Image IPB

Spoilers I'm sorry can't help it.  If your sibling didn't go the Grey Warden path look away,

When I say this I mean.  Bethany just showing up in Kirkwall through clairvoyance during the Qunari thing.  Grey Wardens were so far away it took 30 days to get word that she was alive.  But they just show up out of the blue for a skirmish.  Then all of a sudden what they were doing is so important they can't stay and help you retake the city.  It was just a forced meeting.

Then later a group of rogue templars & mages just happen to know where the Wardens are, break into a Warden base of operations kidnap your sister and travel back to Kirkwall, no Wardens in pursuit.

Then once again she just happens to know something is amiss in Kirkwall and just shows up in Kirkwall at the end.  It was just ridiculous, bordering on absurd they way these interactions were unnatural and forced.
