Dearie me. You are going to howl in frustration when you learn of the opportunity you can't take up at the end of Mass Effect 2.
I wanted to join Sovereign... :(

The opportunity to blow the Hammerhead out the airlock?

There's a reason you can't join Sovereign: and it's the same reason why you can't have Shepard hang himself in his cabin.

I definitely agree on a mental level. Upon hearing Sovereign talk about the awesomeness of the Reapers and the futility of organic life, I was really looking for a reply that said "accept defeat and begin cleansing the galaxy." Joining him would be arrogant in and of itself though, considering that the Reapers basically are God. Submitting to their rule would be a more appropriate way of putting it.
Although the human inside me said "if I can't surrender logically, what's more badass than taking down a god?" So Shepherd decided to directly threaten the most powerful beings the universe shall ever know.

Kinda hard to believe the reapers are actually gods when their machine based life that refuses to admit someone created them, despite that fact that machine based life forms can't naturally come into existance themselves.
Also a perfect being wouldn't be crippled by something it was using as an avatar (robosaren) dying.

If they were so perfect they wouldn't have been blown up on the Citadel or have to be all sneaky when taking out a species. They're just really advanced machines, not gods.

Yeah, joining Sovreign is a great idea. Look at how well it worked out for Saren.

If humanity deserves to be destroyed, then its because of weak, whiny wussies that enjoy Sovereign. I mean your argument that humankind is pointless because we repeat the same things our ancestors did and we are arrogant. Yet the Reapers are arrogant enough to unanimously agree amongst theirselves that all organic species and all other synthetics (like Geth) are worthless. And haven't they been repeating the same task of galactic genocide for billions of years. You fail to explain why Reapers are better. And if you all are going to view this argument from a morale's neutral perspective, then remember the "survival of the fittest" - no being has a right to exist before another. Whoever can survive does. The lion is not a criminal for eating a gazelle, but the gazelle is not a sinner for running for its life. And emotion is superior to logic. Logical thinking always inevitably leads to paradoxes and senselessness. Consider the annoying habit of children asking why endlessly until you have no answer; this demonstrates that logic can not provide purpose. Lastly, the Reapers are not gods by any means. They are not immortal, not infallible, not all-powerful. They are hollow empty shells that destroy emotional organics because they lack our emotional depth. They envy our ability to envy. They hate our ability to hate. Besides, Mass Effect takes place in a single galaxy, which isn't fully explored and the Reapers HIDE in dark space. There could be beings that surpass them, which they fear.
I am glad to have killed Sovereign. I only wish Sovereign was pregnant when I blew it up.

Don't think a machine based race can be pregnant unless you count manufacturing another machine inside itself as pregnancy.
