Dog vs Dog

The one from Origins or the one from DA2?
I honestly love both of them.
The DA2 dog has WAY better and more camp (or house) dialogues and he is a good distraction if you fight alone.
The DAO dog is great with his 'Find Stuff!' thing, he has funny party banters and he has better talents.
All in all, I would say that I like the DAO-Dog a little better, because you had a stronger bond to him.
Especially as a Cousland and especially with 'Witch Hunt' installed.
Your opinion?

DA2 dog is cute and I use him, since he's there. But he doesn't have the same utility.

That said I did love the party banter with the DAO dog.

I really hadn't expected the second dog to be anything more than a fluff cosmetic type pet. I certainly didn't expect him to be fully worked into the game with even more cutscenes than the original. And I really didn't expect him to be even smarter and funnier.
That he didn't take up a full party slot and was still quite useful in combat made him even better.
He was, however the only companion I really missed the option to 'dress' in the game. I would have really loved to have my favorite 'skeleton' kaddis pattern on him. Just the thing for a pirate's dog.
But like I said, I still loved the original too. The only reason I suffered through Witch Hunt was him, not Morrigan. And Mabari Dominance and finding things was fun.

If only Aveline could take her greasy hands of my dog. I wanted the dog to safe guard the house, but nooo... Aveline takes the dog anyway to "train some guards" or some such. Wait until Faux News hears about this. Sigh.
This^, I actually liked Dog2 better, but was jealous that he got more attention than I did from my companions.
Fixed Faux News for you.

I just never used Dog1 much in origins. I thought it was cool the way I could interact with him in DA2.

What fun you have for hours with Dog1 is between you and your Fade to Black screen.

On the bright side, his funny moments (of which there are many) don't require you to bring him with you everywhere, whilst ironically allowing you to do just that. I wish he pitched in more whilst out and about.

Plus it looked like the original dog was on steroids.

This pretty much sums it up.
I do miss being able to dress him though (I miss that for everyone though, mind you *cries a little inside*) and sending him out to find things was fun. I also miss pickpocketing. Can't miss the opportunity to rub that in for no related reason whatsoever.

Feel free to randomly turn any of my posts to this topic. No reason required.
Now if I could only train my mabari to help me pickpocket. That would actually be a great idea for the next one. Your dog develops different tricks based on your class.

Dog1 overall but Dog2's cut scenes win over Dog1's.

EDIT: Oh and he was actually useful in Witch Hunt once he had the Warrior talent tree.

Dog 2 - Fetches the constable to arrest a miscreant, trains guard recruits, and plays a mean hand of poker.
I don't know which one I like better. They're both pretty darn amazing.

I thought it would have been grand to use dog on Loghain at the landsmeet duel. An unforeseen hand said that I couldn't do that. I don't think I'd mind if modders could make dog King of Ferelden, just for laughs like the dance mod.
I also missed not being able to dress my DA2 pooch with his usual kaddis and collars. I kinda missed that. I also wish that a mage could heal him so he doesn't disappears when hit to hard.
My DA2 dog is a good poker player and doesn't like tips from Varric, my DAO was great at playing fetch.
Both were great with party banter.
Yup, hard to choose.
