Which Mabari do you like better?
The one from Origins or the one from DA2?

I honestly love both of them.
The DA2 dog has WAY better and more camp (or house) dialogues and he is a good distraction if you fight alone.
The DAO dog is great with his 'Find Stuff!' thing, he has funny party banters and he has better talents.

All in all, I would say that I like the DAO-Dog a little better, because you had a stronger bond to him.
Especially as a Cousland and especially with 'Witch Hunt' installed.

Your opinion?

First one, because of the thing he and Sten had going. It was cute.

I liked DAO Dog better because he functioned as a full party member and had useful skills.

DA2 dog is cute and I use him, since he's there. But he doesn't have the same utility.

DA2 dog is a bro. Draws assassin agro, takes a dagger like nobody's business and is immune to fire. Very handy for mage Hawke and free 5th party member.

That said I did love the party banter with the DAO dog.

I greatly prefer that DA2's dog was summoned rather than a full party member. It meant I used him far more than Origins, where he was obsolete by the first main quest. While you miss out on party banter, there are so many times the companions come over to visit him, that I don't feel like we lost much at all.

If origin's dog was summoned I'd perfer the origin's one... It's hard to say though, Dragon age 2's dog is a gambling dog afterall

I never, ever thought I'd say this (given how Dog1 was my favorite Origins companion) but Dog 2.

I really hadn't expected the second dog to be anything more than a fluff cosmetic type pet. I certainly didn't expect him to be fully worked into the game with even more cutscenes than the original. And I really didn't expect him to be even smarter and funnier.

That he didn't take up a full party slot and was still quite useful in combat made him even better.

He was, however the only companion I really missed the option to 'dress' in the game. I would have really loved to have my favorite 'skeleton' kaddis pattern on him. Just the thing for a pirate's dog.

But like I said, I still loved the original too. The only reason I suffered through Witch Hunt was him, not Morrigan. And Mabari Dominance and finding things was fun.

If only Aveline could take her greasy hands of my dog. I wanted the dog to safe guard the house, but nooo... Aveline takes the dog anyway to "train some guards" or some such. Wait until Fox News hears about this. Sigh.

This^, I actually liked Dog2 better, but was jealous that he got more attention than I did from my companions.

Fixed Faux News for you.

Dog 2, hands down. The original Dog was never in my party.

I just never used Dog1 much in origins. I thought it was cool the way I could interact with him in DA2.

Does dog 2 bring you cake? No he does not. He also lacks Overwhelm and his damage doesn't scale. Dogs that can't run down mages and chew their faces off then return with delicious confectionary just ain't dogs, if you ask me.

On the bright side, his funny moments (of which there are many) don't require you to bring him with you everywhere, whilst ironically allowing you to do just that. I wish he pitched in more whilst out and about.

That second picture is attack dog mode.

Plus it looked like the original dog was on steroids.

Second picture looks way cuter. And I think the first dog was on Pie not Steroids.

This pretty much sums it up.

I do miss being able to dress him though (I miss that for everyone though, mind you *cries a little inside*) and sending him out to find things was fun.  I also miss pickpocketing.  Can't miss the opportunity to rub that in for no related reason whatsoever.  :D  I liked Origins dog better than dog2 ONLY with the mod that let him not take up a slot.  That is the benefit to Dog 2 over vanilla dog 1.  No slot.   Dog1's benefits are searching, and kaddis/collar so you feel you can personalize them.

Now if I could only train my mabari to help me pickpocket. That would actually be a great idea for the next one. Your dog develops different tricks based on your class.

Dog1 was great with the dog slot mod installed until I d/led that he mostly sat in camp. The dog spell in DA2 is pretty much the Dog slot mod minus the zoning, fetching and customisation I enjoyed in Origins.

Dog1 overall but Dog2's cut scenes win over Dog1's.

The only reason I'd say I like Dog1 over Dog2 is the walking party banter that party members had with the dog. I know DA2 companions come to your house to talk to the dog, but walking around Lothering with Alistair and Morrigan talking to Dog1 was priceless. I may have used dog1 less in combat but I made sure to bring him with me on shopping runs in Denerim, Orzimar etc.

EDIT: Oh and he was actually useful in Witch Hunt once he had the Warrior talent tree.

Dog 1 - Brings me cake, bottles of wine, and the occassional small child. ("The cake is a lie!")
Dog 2 - Fetches the constable to arrest a miscreant, trains guard recruits, and plays a mean hand of poker.

I don't know which one I like better. They're both pretty darn amazing.

Hmmm, hard to say. Per looks, I'll go with DAO. I did use dog in origins until patch 1.03. I even took him in the final battle once with the arch demon, I think there is a screen shot of this in my DAO album. The arch demon went right for him. Wynne did revive him twice and he still made it in the end.

I thought it would have been grand to use dog on Loghain at the landsmeet duel. An unforeseen hand said that I couldn't do that.  I don't think I'd mind if modders could make dog King of Ferelden, just for laughs like the dance mod.

I also missed not being able to dress my DA2 pooch with his usual kaddis and collars. I kinda missed that. I also wish that a mage could heal him so he doesn't disappears when hit to hard.

My DA2 dog is a good poker player and doesn't like tips from Varric, my DAO was great at playing fetch.

Both were great with party banter.

Yup, hard to choose.
