/thread.

The second dog obviously had its features morphed to suit the intelligence of DA 2's main audience. :lol:

That second picture is attack dog mode.

Plus it looked like the original dog was on steroids.

The second dog is just a farm dog, after all. Probably not as good as a Grey Warden Commander's mabari would be.

Dog 2, hands down. The original Dog was never in my party.

This. Origins dog was cool and all, but not enough to warrant taking the place of a companion with real dialog...

First of all, I love both my doggies equally, YOU CAN'T ASK ME TO CHOOSE!

That said, I prefer the way Dog was handled in DA2, not taking a full party slot and with cute cutscenes with all companions (though DAO's Dog had the banters).

I did use the Extra Dog Slot mod in Origins, but in a vanilla comparison DA2 did this much better.

What I really missed was the ability to directly control him and heal him. The poor thing kept dying... or going into stealth mode. Yeah, I prefer to think that. :D

I prefer how dog was handled in DA2. That said, I miss "customizing" dog with war paint. It made him look more badass

Dog1 was always called Duncan. Dog2 was Garrus.

I would first like to say Michael Vick approves of this thread. Secondly I must say DAO dog was better.

I like the way they handled dog in DA2, the idea of having him as a ranger-like pet was good because I always wanted to bring him with me in DA:O but compared to other companions lost the spot. But I preferred the way you can control dog in DA:O, by giving him abilities and controlling the dog itself. Perhaps in future DA titles we can see a mix between the two past games? For example, dog still remains a ranger pet but more advanced, the little dog spot on Hawke's abilities should have a few extra upgrades for dog like "Shred" "Growl" or "Overwhelm".

One major thing that personally bugs me is that DA2 dog is just that boring brown colour whilst you could give DA:O dog cool looking war-paint. I was kind of hoping for the same colour the concept art of dog was I mean how cool does he look in the image.

would have loved a dog with that dark grey/black fur colour, seems appropriate seeing how the dlc you get him in is called "the BLACK emporium."

Every mabari is great. Posted Image

In DAO i liked the possibility to switch to the mabari and fight. Liked to customize his skills.
In DA2 i love all the scenes/interactions that the mabari has with Hawke's companions.

I really hope that the mabari will also appear in DA3.

Well I'm hoping in DA3 they'll be replaced with War Corgis.

Wargies would be both adorable and deadly.

DA2 dog has conversations with Sandal, tries to hump Izzy's leg, chews on recruits, drinks at the Hanged Man and can beat Anders at cards...gotta be the winner...no?

DA2's mabari was better because you didn't need to waste a companion slot on it. Wasn't really interested in either of them in terms of personality, though...

As people have already mentioned. The extra dog slot mod make the Orirgins dog summunable just as in DA2, this gives you the best of two worlds.

Like most I used DA2 dog more because it didn't use up a slot. In terms of personality and cut scenes, they were on a par.
