So as you can see it looks like the chest and wooden crate got glitched up high there somehow. My question is, is there anything important in there (i.e. sidequest related or really good gear)? Or am I just missing out on a health poltice or something...?

I tried everything I could to get to them but there's no way to.

Not a glitch, that's where the chest and crate are supposed to be. If you walk between the vertical timbers (directly in front of Alistair in your screenshot, where the beams are casting shadows?), there is a path leading up and around to a platform. The chest is locked, and the loot is insignificant.

It took me forever to figure that out, btw.

Oh lol, ya I totally didnt see that, thanks. I was all running around up the top trying to see a way to get down .
