Like the one they are charging as a DLC for ME2??? Yeah, I'm glad I'm importing.

The Genesis interactive comic showed us how you can't substitute playthroughts to a decent degree with chose your adventure style short narrative.
There was a thread created many months ago which collected the vital parts missing people who palyed the games hold dear (like Feros).

thats funny TC, because i havent seen a single sign that would lead me to believe the game is going to be a let down. Every single detail released so far has been positive in my book.
Careful. DA2 started out this way as well...

Negativity is contagious. If you shoot for the moon at the very least you'll hit the stars. We have to have high expectations for the developers to try to match. That's why I keep telling myself and the devs that this will be the greatest game of all time. If they approach the game from this direction at least we'll get the greatest game the decade.
...or you'll fall right back down to Earth. I know it's a broken record at this point, but see DA2...

That's cool, cautious optimism is better than setting your expectations too high.
So far the confirmed features have been pretty good in my book.

You pretty much are alone in this. Firstly, you could at least explain why you feel ME3 will be a letdown. Secondly, I don't know how you can think that. Almost everything that has been confirmed so far is good news. Like Someone With Mass said, if your expectations are stupidly high, of course the game will let you down. We'll all be enjoying one of the greatest games, if not the greatest game we've ever played, and you'll be whining about how the game isn't perfect for you. So stop worrying and enjoy what you get instead of nitpicking. At least wait until ME3 is out before complaining.
I used to think Mass Effect was an rpg...not a shooter. If I wanted to play gears of war I would friggin buy a shooter
Mass Effect was never a pure RPG and ME2 was what the devs wanted it to be all along. I'm not a big shooter fan either, but I remain cautiously optimistic about ME3. The pessimist in me can see how ME3 could be turned into a "Michael Bay meets Call of Duty space opera", but ultimately, I doubt that is going to happen. Yes, ME3 will be a little more shooter centric than I may want, but the role play, story and characters should more than make up for it. For pure RPG, well, that’s what Skyrim is for.

You can be disappointed with the RPG-to-TPS ratio, like most of us were in ME2, but if you're expecting Baldur's Gate... tough luck.

I call everything like I see it. I know many are pumped for this game, but initial perception for me is causing worry. It's obvious that there needs to be more seen to make any further judgment, but from all details I have so far, I am worried about ME3. AS a result, I naturally find myself posting less and less in this forum.
Am I alone in this?

Pretty much. And the developers promised that the story and character development was going to be on steroids this time. Gameplay was fixed in ME2, so instead of overhauling it (ME1-ME2) they just improved the foundation established leaving more room for less plot holes and retcons.

-The two genres don't have to be mutually exclusive. If there were no shooting mechanics then the game would just be conversations, cutscenes and walking.
-Bioware have already said many times that they're putting more emphasis on the RPG elements than they did in ME2. I know the RPG features were lighter in ME2 than in the first game, but at least give Bioware a chance to show off the new features - apart from Twitter posts we've had one article about a quick combat demo from IGN, and the RPG features a generally outside of combat (inventory, ability customisation).
-The Mass Effect games have never particularly heavy on the RPG front. The only reason ME1 felt like more of an RPG is Bioware had little experience with shooting mechanics, and were already taking a gamble with making a new IP for a new console generation so had to use gameplay mechanics they were used to (here being light RPG features) even if that wasn't the direction they eventually wanted the franchise to take.
No need tow worry just yet

And the story will be the worst yet.
Bioware really don't seem to care at all about storyline anymore. Just look at Arrival. That DLC is like a slap in the face of every fan who complained that ME2 didn't make sense. It's Bioware's way of saying "get used to it".

It's for this reason that I'm not interested in getting TOR.
Honestly, if I think they're doing the same thing with ME3 then I won't get it. I still can't forget CHud's comment about going a more PG-13 route with ME2 and maybe that's tempered any hype I might have for this game. Since I was younger I've wanted games with more mature tones. I'd play Mario Kart and stuff like that just for the fun of it, and funny enough when I played those games it was usually with friends. If I want to be engaged by what I'm playing it has to be something that's not going to hit me with corny and/or predictable diaglogue or scenarios every few seconds.

More like how the content of DA2 was lacking upon its release. You don't need a rushed release date to achieve this. DA2 just happened to be a victim of both.

I think Overlord was a far worse offender at that.
As for the story in ME3, it's going pretty much the way I've alway expected it to go.
Large space battles and all that.
