So I reloaded my game today and for some reason my characters will not auto attack. I mean they can have an ogre beating the snot out of them and they just sit there and take it. If I manually control the character and manually attack it will work but specials are not working and the AI seemed totally F'd at the moment. Is there a setting I hit somewhere and I need to change back? Any advice would be wonderful.

Can you think of anything you might have done anything external to the program between plays? There's been a lot of issues with the toolset breaking people's single player games.

All I have done with the toolset is place a couple of trees on an open terrain and played around with the deforming tool a bit. I did not even save any of the maps, it was more just playing around than anything else. I tried different saved files and encountered the same bug in each save file. Also important is that once I stop manually controlling them, they just stand there.

Is there anything that can be done or am I going to have to start the game over? *power frown*

Try removing the toolset, and ensuring that the following directories are empty in your Dragon Age folder:

modules\\single player\\override

packages\\core\\override

If this was the problem, it's possible your latest saves (anything after the toolset install), but anything earlier should work (assuming this is the problem).

So that did not work and now it appears that I cannot do area tranisitions to the world map. I have tried 6 save files and all of them are corrupted. I am a very sad panda.

That sucks.

I'm not at work right now so I can't provide too much help for a new issue unfortunately.  I will PM you with more information in the morning.

In the meantime, a fresh install might work.  I don't know exactly what happens with an install of the toolset, so we can try a brute force effort.  This should NOT impact your saved games unless they are somehow corrupted now (god forbid... I will sacrifice small animals to ensure this is not the case... ).  Your saved games should be in you My Documents/username/BioWare folder, so this won't touch them.

1) Uninstall the game
2) Go to where you installed the game and delete the Dragon Age folder from there (default is probably C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age off the top of my head).  This should hopefully remove any badness that may be lingering.
3) Reinstall the game

I really, really hope this works!  Otherwise, something else >.>

Thanks so much for all the help. What really sucks is I was getting ready for the final battle in the game me and Mr. Archdemon had a date, now that has been indefinately posponed. *power frown* Have a wonderful night.

See social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/161605, worked for me.  Bioware, you should have a sticky about toolset problems.

I have this problem too and it didn't seem to clear up after uninstalling but when i checked out my user information after uninstalling i decided to try this.

using the following path:

c:user\\"username"\\document\\bioware\\dragon age\\modules\\single player\\override

there is a folder called toolsetexport. I'm going to try and delete this folder and see if it fixes it.

Try renaming/deleting (I renamed) USERNAME/Bioware/Dragon Age/Modules/Single player/. Worked for me when the toolset broke my world map.

Thanks MAthew.....So I have not reinstalled the game and still no luck. What is worse I tried to start over and when I click New Game it says Module will not load......I am not usually one of those trolls that says f-you bioware you suck, but I am trying everything I know and well I am getting very upset after spending $60 on software to have to broken so.

here goes uninstall and reinstall 3......I have done as the post stated and the game still will not work....frustration continues to mount.....I do not even care about the 47 hours I put into my original game (other than having to re-unlock all those classes again), I just want to be able to play this software.

Worst case: Backup the character directory (character info + savegames), nuke everything (DA folder in My Documents, the game, all of it :P), reinstall.

If you don't even care about the savegame: Uninstall toolset, uninstall DA, delete Bioware folder in My Documents, reinstall.

Try and backup your saves, screenshots and profile file. you can backup your whole "username"\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\document\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bioware\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\dragon age" folder with the saves and such, just to be sure. after backuping remove everything so you can have a clean start. If that works you can manullay add your savegames and profile later.

Edit. Noticed this advice was already given
