Just as the title says.

As we all know, there has been a lot of discussion on the subject of PC Gaming,  theer is some postive new but unfortunatly also  some of negative news about PC gaming to be seen.

So...

Do you think the PC version will get the same amount of attention as the other platforms? and that it will be well ajusted for the PC players ? or do you think it will be a Console port, with missing features and akward controls?

Further more, are there any suggestions or improvements that can be made to the PC version, got something interesting or inovative post it here.

Most likely console port, ME 2 was, which is evident with how the game is broken into sections (With the xbox needing multiple disks). I'm mixed about this mainly because it takes away the freedom of doing whatever you want whenever but it does help keep the story structured.

Do I think that if it's a console port it will ruin the game? no. Do I think it should be a console port? no. Will it be a console port? most likely yes.

I've actually very good faith in Bioware when it comes to the PC version. They've handled the PC version of KotOR, Mass Effect(I know it was made by Demiurge but still), and Mass Effect 2 excellent. Providing the PC version with PC specific menus, UI, PC tailored mini-games, better graphics, and PC specific graphics options. Therefore based on Bioware's history I don't think the PC version won't be treated equally along with the rest. Bioware knows how to make a PC game feel like a PC game.

I also have faith in bioware as long as the don't pull a DA 2 with the controls.

I'd gladly wait a few months after the console release for an optimal PC port release (just like with KotOR, JE, ME).

No doubleclicks, menu hotkeys and the use of F1-F4 for weapons is terrible given how well ME1 was ported.

Eh? Waiting for PC version? No thanks. That would be the first time an established multiplatform IP of Bioware would get an (anti-)preferential treatment based upon which console it is on. (OK, excluding perhaps Dragon Age for the PS3, but you got to blame Sony for that).

I never played DA2, so I don't know how that was, but if the default controls were bad, couldn't you change them through the Options menu?

Mass Effect was released later on the PC. Wouldn't be the first.

@Khayness: hence why I said established IP. Mass Effect only came out on PC when it became a hit on the Xbox. Upon release it was nowhere near an established IP - imho it was one of the biggest gambles of Bioware ever - after Jade Empire that is.

It was more about camera control, which shouldn't be an issue with Mass Effect.

I'm sure that with a bit of Unreal Engine ini file tweaking I'll be able to get the PC controls to my liking. That said, it'd be nice if they'd give us a proper HUD this time (what's with all those empty power slots in ME2?) and more keymappings (why can't I assign a shortcut key to Pistol, Shotgun, and so on?)

It'd also be nice if the game didn't CTD when I drag powers to my shortcut bar (they never did patch that ME2 bug)

They're developed together, not one after the other.

That's what they said about ME2 but even if they developed both versions at the same time, ME2 on PC felt like a rushed port. Just look at all the things wrong with the PC version:

Texture clipping on the Presidium and Tuchanka
Missing skybox in Archangel loyalty mission combined with ghosting effects
No menu shortcuts
No double clicking in menus
No mouse wheel scrolling in menus
Last-gen low resolution body textures
Buttons in 'mission complete' menus that don't do anything and where obviously leftovers of the console version

Demiurge did a much better job with the ME1 port. It had some big flaws as well, but at least they got gameplay and the user interface right.

Crash to desktop, I'd guess. Can't remember having that issue myself though.

Crash to Desktop.

I had it a few times myself when trying to configure the shortcut bar. In the end I just played without ever using the shortcut bar, and had to bring up the combat menu.  Which wasn't optimal but not game breaking.

Well that sounds like a nightmare. Is this something that happens to everyone or just an uncommon bug?

In any case, I plan to play ME3 on the Xbox, but I hope they take advantage of the PC interface for the PC release. Mouse and Keyboard function very differently from a controller, and while some elements from both fit good together, some are very distinct.

It's somewhat uncommon. (It tends to happen most often if you try it in combat)

But I'm not worried about the PC version. The ME2 port was very well designed with the keyboard in mind. BioWare does a great job porting their games to the PC. ME2 still looks and runs great on lower end PCs.

I think the CTD with the shortcut bug happened when you dragged powers within the bar.

I´d rather have the game as in ME1, wait a few months but a better use of PC superior capabilities. At least I hope this time we have key bindings and not having to use Esc to go to the menu. I really felt they just didn´t care enough in ME2 when I saw that.

Indeed, a couple more hotkeys, the option to use the scroll-wheel and +50 save game slots shouldn't be too much to ask.

Something that aggravates me to no end is a lack of a Quick Load button for The Witcher 2. so I hope they don't lose that for ME3
