With my renegade playthroughs I let them die and helped him kill vido. Otherwise I made sure I had enough paragon points to convince him to come with me even though vido got away. He remains loyal and I save him from the fire. We'll get vido in Me3

I punch him in the face, save the workers, and point a gun to his head and tell him he has to work as a team. I'm not going to let innocents die just so some merc can get his selfish revenge on another merc.

It depends, on which upgrade I need for that particular playthrough. If my char doesn't use AR, I save the people. Otherwise, they're french fries and I go for the HW upgrade.

Regardless of my character's paragon/renegade position, I've always gone for letting Zaaed get his revenge.

I saved the workers, because I'm sure I would feel bad for letting them get killed.
Ironically, because I didn't have Zaeed's loyalty because of that he died in the suicide mission and now I feel bad for that anyway.

*Sigh*

I don't base story decisions on gameplay elements.

I was unhappy he went "rogue" but, I still went after Vido. If he gets away, he's just going to capture another refinery and kill off/enslave more people, so you don't really save anyone in the end. Sometimes sacrifices need to be made, better to get him and cripple the 'Suns IMO.

I don't either, normally. But, in those cases, the story decisions have an impact. What impact does this give? An email? Some credits? At least my decisions have a backbone element, that directly impacts the game.

I went after Vido for the same reason I went after Balak. If Vido gets away he will, by order or deed, kill more people than I am going to save right now.

Considering that those innocents were put in danger due to the actions of one of my team members, I felt a responsibility to them. It sucks that Vido got away, but I would never have needed to make the choice between innocent lives and Vido if Zaeed hadn't jumped the gun in the first place.

I don't like Zaeed and I prefer to help the people. he's reckless, irresponsible and just an angry, bitter, old merc. I prefer the line "I don't want you on my ship". least favorite squad member.

True, he was behind all that Blue Suns mischief in the N7 missions.

Just save the people and use paragon speech to make Zaeed focus on the task at hand.

For my paragons have to save the people in the burning refinery.

For my renegades Vido is a dangerous man and he would do the same elsewhere and I need Zaeed clear headed and focused.

hah apparently if you do this mission after the suicide mission you can leave Zaeed to die in the fires he started. so tempted to do it.
