trying to go out for a drink =/= relationship, plus I would hope that they would start moving on, considering that it was over 2 years since Shepard died. For Shepard though.. its only been weeks at the point when they meet VS. Everyone's Shepard is different, attitude towards relationships is different, but couple of weeks is not nearly as long as couple of years, so for Shepard moving on should carry a bit more significance. there is however nothing wrong with moving on, provided you don't end up leading your LI's on in ME3 (and if you do, then you deserve the drama). personally, I have one active Shepard that moved on and I'm not entirely sure how I would play her in ME3. Everyone is either loyal or skipped ME1 relationships, to have clean start with ME2 relationships. if I get extremely curious, I'll peruse the inevitable youtube videos.

I most certainly did. I mean, c'mon! Thane?! He was literally designed to attract the ladies. Plus, the others were either too busy researching or pissed off at me for coming back from the dead... Or something, I dunno.
I think that hardly counts as cheating, does it?

Actually, I only romanced Kaidan in part one, knowing I was going to move on to Thane in part two, just to see if I can get to see the Most Epic Battle of Passive Aggressive in part three. Yes, I'm going to hell, and you're free to join me.


I'll be sticking with Thane in part three. If Tali becomes a f/f romance option, I'll make a new character just for her.

Oh, God, that made me laugh. I fully support moving on to Thane. He's a good man who deserves some love.

I played ME2 before ME1 and romanced Garrus, so retroactively playing ME1 I knew my Shep would end up with the Turian. Tried the Kaidan romance to see what all the excitement was about but found him rather bland by comparison. Luckily Kaidan made moving on quite easy -- any guilt I felt for romancing him in part 1 knowing Shep wouldn't stay with him was pretty much wiped out on Horizon. And the email was just...ugh. I'm hoping Shep gets to renegade interrupt Kaidan and run off with Garrus in ME3.

Kaidan: Look, about what I said on Horizon... I was upset, and --
FemShep: *Renegade Interrupt* I'm with Garrus.
Garrus: *facepalm* Way to let him down gently, Shepard.
FemShep: He's kind and brave and loyal. And he's got a much bigger-
Garrus: Rifle, Alenko. She means rifle.
FemShep: Anyway, I love him.

Garrus: Wait, what?
FemShep: You heard me.

It's hard to say. Personally, after that 'talk' I had with Kaidan, I assume I'm as free as a bird and any discussion over the fact I'm banging the drell is going to center on 'wah wah, you pitched a fit and walked off, why would I wait for someone who abandoned me? STFU and GTFO.'

Part of the difficulty of the discussion is whether it's cheating. I say that if someone gives you the stink eye, basically assumes you're too f--king stupid to know that Cerberus is shady as hell and basically abandons you after you saved their magical biotic ass/supah soldier booty, the relationship is DOA. But a lot of people think that since the relationship, as it is, was never effectively terminated, that there's still a relationship there.


Other people just treat ME1 LIs as booty calls, since the relationship progression stops with 'hey, we might die, want to do the wango fango with me in your quarters?' and everything else is head!canon as what happens between killing Saren and getting spaced.

 I cheated on Ashley Williams, but only because I had no idea that politely saying "Now is not the time" is the same thing as starting a romance. <_<

Depends on how you view the conversation and sequential email.  For example I see the convo on Horizon as an emotional explosion and a massive fight but nowhere is there any indication that she doesn't want anything to do with you anymore.  The email is an apology for the explosion and indicates, to my mind clearly, that she still has strong feelings for you.

So I don't see it as a break-up.  A break perhaps so any boot knocking by Shepard could arguably be ok, but it's not, "This relationship is over," unless you decide to make it that.

Nope. I personally have issues with cheating, and so can't manage to do so, even in games. I just feel.....scuzzy afterwords. So I started new games to romance Jack and Garrus.

Yup, it's confusing and messy, just like a real breakup. Kudos to the writers.

Nope, my canon Shep died, thus ending her relationship with Kaidan. She moved on to Garrus.

I do finally have a paragon who hardly spoke to Kaidan, saved Ashley, and romanced Garrus, so for her there hopefully shouldn't be any ninja romance issues in ME3.

Stayed loyal in ALL except:
FemShep cheated on Kaidan; first with Garrus, then with Thane, then killed Thane.
MaleShep told Liara lets be friends (except when making LOTS of little blue children!)
MaleShep also "did" Tali & Jack, but no LI in ME1
Why? Just to see what BW has cooked up in ME3. And YES, I have numerous save games ME1 & ME2.

Neither Kaidan nor Ashley "dumps" you on Horizion. They are bewildered that (1) you came back from the dead & (2) you are "working for/with" Cerberbus (the enemy from ME1 and soon to be in ME3!).

Try to imagine how YOU would feel IRL, if you were in love with/married to someone, and they died. You mourned him/her, and tried to lead a 'normal life." Then suddenly, 2 years later that "ghost" turned out to be alive! Now, do you try to rekindle that old flame, stick with whatever relationship you might have started with someone new or maybe just try to be friends? The writers did a very good job; how does it turn out in ME3, dunno, have to wait!

Also, where are you getting that Ashley or Kaiden are even seeing someone else? They make no mention of it and it's obvious that Liara isn't seeing anyone else either even if you didn't romance her.

Same. Hell, because my FemShep had a flawless play through, I don't think I'll ever have her cheat with anyone else. Olivia + Liara all the way through, baby!
