Here's the link to Kaidan's email:

Coming after his: "You betrayed the Alliance -- you betrayed ME!" on Horizon it was one of those: "Wow, this is really painful, and I'm sorry for what you've been through, but this is not going to work out" moments for me. I, and by extension my FemShep, don't deal well with people who fly off the handle. Did he have cause? Yes. Does Shep blame him? No. Is it going to lead to kissing and making up? No. They're just too different.

Stayed loyal to Ashley.

Why?

Because I have standards and loyalty.

Also, where are you getting that Ashley or Kaiden are even seeing someone else? They make no mention of it and it's obvious that Liara isn't seeing anyone else either even if you didn't romance her.

And what about Ashley and Kaidan's loyalty? Shepard's been dead, may possibly still be having issues with that, and then they explode, at least Kaidan talks about going out with someone else- where does loyalty even come into the question? The letter they send talks about a 'maybe' after everything settles down. I understand that there's some room for interpretation, but from where I was standing, Kaidan left Shepard and she found someone who could be there for her, through thick and thin.

I'll admit to not knowing off the top of my head what Ashley says, but Kaidan declares himself an Alliance man, through and through- though I don't exactly blame him for that part of his attitude, he's also declaring that he puts his job/belief/whatever you want to call it before Shepard. Loyalty is fractured, even if the VS tries to mend fences afterwards. Kaidan/Ashley walks away from you- whether you think picking up the pieces and trying again or whether you verbally tell people in-game that it's over is on you. Can't speak for everyone else, but as far as I'm concerned, my relationship with Alenko ended when he turned his back on me.

I stuck with Ashley through thick and thin throughout my primary playthrough of Mass Effect 2. In fact I did it twice.
Only recently in my third playthrough, which was one that didn't matter much as I doubt I'll import it, did I romance Jack. 'Cause I couldn't resist those cute eyes.

But yes, for the most part, Ash is the only girl in the galaxy for my Shepard.

My FemShep ditched Kaidan for Thane, but that's about it. My canon is loyal to Ashley and always will be.

Got ninja-manced by Tali the first time through. Since Mordin died on the SM, I had ample reason to go back and play my canon Shepard again, this time staying faithful to Ashley and keeping Mordin alive.

Still, I liked the Tali romance a lot, so I made another profile to romance her with. Same with Jack, Miranda and Garrus. Didn't romance Jacob, as I'm a Miranda/Jacob or Kasumi/Jacob shipper. Plus, I didn't want any of my Femsheps to be a replacement for Thane's wife.

But to get back on topic, my canon MShep loves Ash too much to ever let her go. What she said hurt him, but he wants her back regardless of anything.

My canon FemShep was unfazed by what Kaidan said. He was in the middle of some emotional turmoil and needed someone to vent on. Stayed faithful.

This, exactly. Kaidan was one of the people Shep was most hoping to find and to not only be rejected, but in that manner, was just too much for her. Others may choose to patch things up, and that's fine, but not my FemShep.

Cheated on Liara with Tali. Got back together with Liara after Shadow Broker and went and turned down Tali. Turning down that sweet little girl was the hardest decision I have ever made in a video game. I felt bad.Image IPB

Cheated on Liara with Kelly, Jack and Tali in one playthrough. You may imagine what sort of Shepards my Mark is.
Mona is "think first, jump later" type, so she'll wait for another chance to speak with Kaidan.
Alyson (main) freaked out after Horizon but currently too heartbroken to forget and move on, so is "loyal" but isn't going to hug him and forget about everything - either reunion through very serious questioning beliefs or no reunion at all.

I think one of the devs said that Kelly doesnt count as cheating.

I stayed with Ash. My favorite character in the series. Besides, Bioware so clearly wanted us to cheat on the ME1 LIs I pretty much felt obligated to dig in my heels...

One stayed loyal to Liara and one moved on from Ashley to Jack. The pt where Shep was with Kaidan is still ME1 only. If I end up playing that one through ME2 before ME3-Release I'd have her stay with Kaidan, though.

My main Shep stuck with Ashley, though I wouldn't describe not doing so as "cheating".

"Hey, Ashley's not in Mass Effect 2. You should totally romance Miranda!!"

"Screw you, you aren't my dad!!"

But seriously, I agree. Admittedly I had planned to stick with Ashley from the beginning, but the fact that they were so blatantly trying to make me switch LI's made me get much more angry and defiant about it.

No, I never felt the need to cheat.
But, since I'm one of those who played ME2 before the first one, I had no prior knowledge of what the ME1 LIs were like.
So, now I have two 'main' Sheps, one with Ash, the other with Miranda. (too hard to choose which one I like more Image IPB)
And both Sheps are completely loyal to their respective LIs.

ETA: And I agree with iakus & V-rex, I didn't care too much for BW's attempts to get the player to cheat.

I've heard that dinner with Kelly might be in friendship and romantic way... but even if romantic, it's up to Shepard to decide if they had sex or not. Anyway, I doubt that "I haven't slept with secretary!" will save Shepard from Liara's, Jack's and Tali's wrath

My Shep didn't cheat on Ash, but probably going to forgo romance in ME3.

"Focus on the mission, Shepard. Romance will distract you too much and if she dies you'll be grieving. If you die, you'll put undue grief on her. Not again."

It was pretty damn easy considering my main shep didn't have a romance in ME1. Tali wasn't available then. >.>

Although I might do a cheating save with my femshep just to see what happens.

I'm surprised so many people have stuck through with VS after LotSB and the comics rapidly increased Liara's popularity. I guess not having somebody makes people want them more =P

And, once again, my Shepard is a firm believer on "We were on break." I'm sure Ashley will enjoy that line as much as she enjoyed "Can't I have you both?"

I did on my first playthrough just to get the achievement. Most of my Shepards will stay loyal to their ME1 LI but I will have one where they don't just to see what difference it makes in ME3.
