Did you cheat on your Mass Effect 1 Romance?

But really, Shepard was basically "dead"! Kaidan had 2 years to move on (and he admits to trying in his post-Horizon email). So basically I consider that relationship over. No "cheating" taking place. When the choice comes up in ME3, I will pick Jake. (cuz really... Cut Mahogany God vs. Faux-Hawk wet blanket? Mahogany God every day of the week, and twice on Sunday).

Nah. It was a tough choice for my femshep (Jacob is awesome) but I remained loyal to Kaidan. Both great guys so hard to pick.
On maleshep, I stayed loyal to Ash. Miranda seems treacherous and I'm not into aliens
Jack?

So, to answer your question: My male!Sheps romanced Ashley in ME1, but in ME2 one hooked up with Miranda, and the other hooked up with Tali. Both of them (especially Tali) demonstrate actual loyalty and trust, something Ashley lacks. My male!Sheps don't plan on playing nice with Ash in ME1.
However, my fem!Shep stuck with Liara. She seems cold and stand offish in ME2 at first, but she's still helpful, and you can break through to her (LotSB helped immensely too). Of course, it doesn't hurt that I find Jacob boring, a Thane romance completely wrong because of it's timing in your conversations with him, and Garrus simply too biologically alien.

Let's put this matter into perspective:
Femshep had an unsatisfying one-night stand with a guy after: 1) kissing her military career goodbye by committing the capital crime of mutiny and stealing a military vehicle to go into a restricted area; and 2) heavily drinking. I don't recall there being a marriage proposal or even a "Hey, I'll call you sometime!" being involved.
Femshep dies. The one-night-stand-guy begins to date after Femshep's death.
Call me old-fashioned, but in order for someone to be "cheating," that person has to be engaged or married to the cheat-ee. Otherwise, it's just considered having a pretty damn good social life.
you assume it was unsatisfying. I assume it was pretty darn great, and judging by the emotion and passion displayed in a scene - it was.
you shepard might have been a heavy drunk - my shepard was perfectly sober becasue - hey, major important battle in a few hours, don't want to mess it up with a hangover.
you might have treated it as emotionless flirtation, but my shepard saw and felt real emotions and didn't lead someone on and allowed them to develop feelings just so she could get her rocks off.
2 years have passed. it would have been strange and maybe downright unhealthy NOT to try and move on. they felt deeply. they loved you - obviously for them it wasn't a one night stand (and actualy it was pretty darn obvious even in ME1). but they had to try and keep living.
is it cheating? no, I don't think so either. but you still need to deal with old relationships vs new (I doubt the game will differentiate between - I just treated you like a piece of ass, vs - you hurt me deeply,so I moved on to someone who trusted me more, but one can hope) and for those who will try to lead both LI's on, I hope oth of them dump that Shepard for good.

I moved on from Ashley to Tali, but I rewrote that canon. Now, I'm just loyal to Tali.
I have both of those playthroughs also but can't decide which one to 'canonize'.

I wonder what will happen if you "cheated" multiple times with multiple LI in ME2. Because one of my Shepards did that. Also one of my Fem Sheps "cheated" for Jacob and later she "sent him through the vent". So I wonder what will happen in her playthrough?
I'm guessing Jacob dies when he goes through the vent? ... That will be one heck of an interesting playthrough!

Let's just say Jacob was just listening to the 'sucicide mission' part and not what skills would be useful. You know how he gets around 'high risk' scenarios...
On topic, no I didn't cheat on Tali (first playthrough I didn't know she wasn't a romance).

I can't remember - it's been a while, but I could have sworn that the animation had femshep with a glass in her hand when Kaidan came by before Ilos. (I deleted a lot of ME1 saves at one point to free up some memory, so I don't have one handy to check.) I could be incorrect - maybe she was at her desk or reading some data pad...?
In any case, I do remember my femshep being completely dressed, leaning against a console of some sort, with her arms folded after the love scene. I'm guessing the afterglow didn't last very long. Hence, the impression on my part that it was unsatisfying. I did show the Husband the scene at the time (he showed me the Liara romance scene in exchange), and his reaction was a wince and a "well, I'm glad he got a good death scene in my playthrough."

fairly sure it was a datapad, and all things concidered, you get the exact same thing as any shepard with Liara and as a male shep with Ashley... so I guess they all suck in bed? since you know, other then a tiny bit of extra animation in Liara's romance, the scenes are basicaly identical. so maybe Shepard is just a dedicated marine, who couldn't sleep before the mission - THE mission, so she instead got dressed and watched her lover sleep (and not with her arms crossed, I believe all shepards basicaly brace themselves on a table))? and from personal experience (a bit of a TMI) good sex can be very energizing, all those endorphins.
either way, what's important is the build up and if you actualy listen to the conversations on Kaidan's side - there's a lot of emotion present there, from the very beginning, his admiration for shepard is pretty obvious, and concidering that mister by the book, cautious, leave a way out guy actualy makes that first step before Ilos - its pretty significant. so you can play it several ways. your shepard shares that emotion, your shepard is oblivious to that emotion, or your shepard is perfectly aware and using it to get her rocks off. in all cases, moving on is still valid, regardless of what I personaly think of someone like the Shepard in my third example. and in all 3 cases - air needs to be cleared, becasue officialy you never really tell the guy that its over. you only assume it is, which is not unreasonable but not by any means a done deal.
