Yeah, you can spend three years of offscreen time with Anders or Merrill as your in home lover. So why not have man/woman pairings have children during the offscreen time and same sex pairings take in a child?

My guess, if Hawke had a daughter, (s)he'd name it Leandra, or maybe Bethany if she's dead.

Also as much unprotected sex as Isabela has its a wonder she doesn't have kids. She must be infertile or something cause even the hookers at the Rose have kids.

My Hawke would be a terrible father. As I did my best to make an in game representation of myself.

My Hawke would show up to Hawke Jr.'s little league games drunk and pick fights with the other dads.

Another family member for Bioware to kill off? Yes!

The PC having a child could be... interesting, but a child just showing up between acts? No way. It would need a *massive* conversation before to make it make sense, which has so much potential to be terrible.

Then again, there was Aerie, that was... something.

No it wouldn't. It would just need a little more commentary from Varric. Something like, "And not long after Hawke became the Champion, (s)he and {Companion} became parents. Named the little nugget after his/her mother/father/brother/sister. Hawke was determined to prove a great parent, and (s)he did. "

Not to mention how it can deepen the plot of the game.

Meredith could claim that the child is in danger for having a mage parent. Orsino could use it as a claim that mages aren't as dangerous because they can raise children. Hawke's enemies could try kidnapping the little tyke and end up dead.

Hawke becomes a parent several times. The problem is, anyone Hawke swears to protect ends up dead. Usually within the day. Nobody wanted to see all those tiny coffins, so it was pulled in beta. True story.

They force the player to want children? Bad move, if you ask me. I can accept major events being out of my control, but I want control over my own character, a lot more than three different shades of "I want children!", certainly.

I try to avoid throwing around ultimatums but that would be a definite non-purchase if I couldn't even have a say in something like that.

Fix'd, because Hawke couldn't be bothered to walk a few feet and save anyone.

Of all the LIs, only one of them isn't carting around a Nat Geo backlog of issues, and that's Isabela.

Fenris isn't even emotionally mature enough to talk about his relationship with Hawke.

Merrill is obsessed with her mirror.

Anders.

So...no. No babies, please. Especially stealth babies out of nowhere.

Hm, sounds like a good idea.... But idk how it'd work honestly, unless a lot of time has passed and the world is in chaos.

If that's the case it'd make sense.

You know, sometimes I laugh to myself thinking about Andres, Fenris, Isabela, Zevran, and/or Merrill meeting me at the doorway of my home, surrounded by our rug-rats, Fable-style.

"Daddy/Mommy! You're home! I've missed you! Did you get me a pressie? Come on, please!?"

Ah, yes. Good times.

But then I stop smoking crack and successfully complete rehab.

No... way... in... hell...

I would absolutely positively love for there to be an option for some my Hawke's to have a child, depending on the LI character, either biologically or to adopt, whichever makes more sense for the pairing.

That said forcing a child on someone as part of a story is stupid. I respect peoples want to roleplay someone who doesn't want or hell even can't have children. Too bad a lot of them can't respect my position and have to be jackoffs about the issue.

THIS!

I am not interested in playing any game that enforces a stereotype that women do not reach their  empowerment unless  they breed.

Point.

Someone needs to make Hawke a GW stat. He can't be trusted with children.

Sadly that only makes it incredibly hard for him to sire a child, but not impossible. It's only impossible if his LI is also a GW.

But I want to see little Merrill babies so I say we just kill the incarnation of Hawke we saw.

I would love for one of my Hawke's to end up a parent!! But only the Hawke I choose. I definitely wouldn't be okay with a kid being forced on me or anyone, but I would love the option.
