 I just learned that all you have to do to is not flirt, and flirt with Sebastian first. This doesn't stop you from flirting with other romance characters, and I believe as long as you don't romance Merrill/Anders [Didn't check] you can have Starkhaven at your beck and call, as you run into the sunset with a Tevinter Slave, or ride the seas with a Sexy Pirate.

How do you know if the romance is successfull? I have tried friendly and rivalry.. and when we reached the gallows, he respond that its sad we havent met sooner.... Varric do not mention anything to the seeker.

I have avoided ALL flirtations.Sebastian did tell me in questions and belief, that he will give me a prince or the marriage.
Any suggestions to what i need to do? And i did kill a certain mage :innocent:

Since a romance with Sebastian doesn't trigger the romance achievement (from what I have read), I don't think there is any indication that your courtship is successful other than the chat before the end battle. I don't know why it isn't mentioned in the epilogue - maybe because the romance itself is ambiguous (no one moves in to the estate, there is no actual "marriage" in the game, etc)? Or maybe Varric disapproved.

Varric is my friend! LOL... Sebastians response to Hawk before the final battle says that he is sad that we didnt meet earlier. It does not indicate that he love or hate Hawk.
If someone have romanced Sebastian successfully, what are he saying to your Hawk before the final battle? I like to know.

I have seen the cutscenes on YT.
My romance with Sebastian have been successfull. Ehh... i am a bit dissapointed. The responses from Sebastian could have been more romantic.

There was a line recorded in which Varric says that Sebastian stayed with your Hawke, but it doesn't trigger, possibly because of a bug.

My Hawkes (and I) have a love/hate relationship with Sebastian. I think he's completely necessary for an impactful endgame, and I feel bad for people that don't have that DLC. That said, he is admittedly kind of annoying. I love his voice, and he's not bad to look at, but his ideals and frequent expression of such ideals can rub the wrong way.

Hated? What? He can be frustrating to deal with-Duncan's beard, man, just decide if you're going back to Starkhaven or not-and, from what I've seen on the forums, gets used in parties less than Varric does because Varric's an archer and a total bro.

There is his whole rant at the end too, but I see where the guy's coming from, even though I wanted to punch him.
And since I've had the DLC since my first playthough, I can't imagine Seb not being in that scene. It would lose a lot of drama, I think. And I also love the voice.

The chaste marriage proposal did make me snicker-not in a "Ha ha, bad writing" way but in a "Ha, of course he would say that" way. It's not like he doesn't tell Hawke about his vows.

That banter about turning in Anders and Merrill seems to tick people off, though. Especially with a mage Hawke. I love Fenris' reaction: "Nuh uh. You want to turn them in; go take it up with Hawke." That would not go over well.

Edit: To clarify, the wiki makes it seem like everyone hates the guy, and from what I've seen, people are usually just irritated at various things he does or says. And maybe want to punch him sometimes, but I think I've had a moment like that with almost every companion. Except Varric, because he's awesome. And Bethany.

And to drag this back on-topic, that's really weird that you can romance both him and Isabela or Fenris. I wonder if the flags are screwed up. I'll have to try this with an Anders-romancing run and see if the same thing happens.

I like Sebastian.  Can't really wrap my head round any idea of marrying him, no.  Flirting with him, even, makes me feel like I'm making a pass at a priest from my church.  It just ain't done, icky icky.  But the way he approaches life from a faithful, calm and peaceful base is something I find appealing, too.  He makes, imo, an awesome friend for Hawke.

I agree. He can be a good friend, and I don't hate him, but I tried to romance him the once and got as far as his chaste speech in the church and just went, Nawwww. Ended up romancing Merrill instead. Sebastian is just... asexual, or something. And a wee bit dull.

Asexual...yes. Thats the word... the romance with him is absolutely not.. romantic!!
I am a mature woman (still playing games lol!) and i love romances in the games. Just spices it all up and makes the adventure more compelling and wonderful!

Make Sebastian more romantic. He is a prince and should be a prize to grab!

My power hungry FemHawke, the viscount of Kirkwall romanced him all right =) we'll see if they get more romantic towards each other in a later game. Right now it was quite political but that suited her pretty well. Would be a fun turn of events if they actually fell for each other after they had their politically advantageous wedding rather than before. Never tried that combination in game before. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. Did the rival-mance =) had wanted just a little bit more in the end with him but I can wait.

Someone said that a dev posted somewhere that the Sebastian story isn't finished, like maybe another DLC, or expansion. It's possible that in DA3 he'll be a main companion and probably "fully romancable" that would be my guess. So hopefully they intend to keep Hawk as the main character into DA3, or it'd be kind of pointless to romance him in this one.

But after 10 mins of just walking around with him and my companions, I was off to blow up the chantry with Anders
