 Is there a cheat on PC to allow you to bring more than 3 party members with you?

I only want to do this so I can bring an extra member along at some points, when I want them their for the dialogue but just can't spare a place for them.

And if so, does this cause any problems/bugs?

There is the "Dog as 5th companion" mod. It treats your dog as a summoned minion, so if you're a rogue ranger, you'll have to de-summon the dog with the dog whistle to summon another animal. It makes a BIG difference:
