Then penalize the men. Not the women.

Stay realistic, as long as the majority of the units would still consist of men its just unpractical to penalize them and not the few women.

So the Gay Rights Movement. Stay realistic, right?

Yes.

I don't see the government disband all their special forces because the male members can't handle a women in their unit.

Okay......so all minorities should just stand down now :

No,

but to successfully change something you need to win the majority at some time and not penalize them.

But that's not possible. It took a whole civil war just to get people to start thinking about ending slavery.

What was this thread about again?

BioWare being lazy/cutting corners with FemShep.

It even happens with armor/outfit textures (ManSheps armor/outfit uses higher quality textures than FemShep).

This is part of the reason I'm reluctant to pre-order ME3...if I'm getting an overall lower quality game, might as well wait to it goes on sale and pay less for it.

You misunderstand.

Prohibitions against female combat troopers in the U.S. are often justified by stating that females are incapable of fulfilling the physical requirements of the job, which is false.

Absolute peak strength and speed are not necessary.

I've met more special forces types who are kind of lean, wiry dudes with a ton of stamina than who are musclebound lunks. You've already got male soldiers who are less strong than other male soldiers, so applying relativism in this context doesn't make a lot of sense.

The standards should be set at an even level, and any person who can exceed that level should be able to serve in any capacity for which they are qualified.

you have a point, special forces guys aren't steriod junkies. they're super strong, but not body builders since body buildiers arent really naturally practical for actual combat.

but the point remains, from an evolutionary and biological standpoint, men were designed to fight better than women. its a simple fact. now this doesnt mean that women arent capable of being badasses, it just means their range of badassery isnt as wide as a males.

if male shep and fem shep got in a fight, male shep would win. its not sexist, its just science.

If this was the same circumtances as Mass Effect, that's far from the truth. Especially Post-Lazuras Project.

Perhaps in your country.
But seriously how could you possibly achieve acceptence of women in special forces by penalizing the men.
And take into accout that its not only about beein an ass, some men have not the problem that they think women are weak, but that women are the mans weak spot.

They aren't cutting corners; they approach both equally.

They just approach maleShep first, foremost, and more equally and then shoehorn that equality down to femShep.

Just curious, why are strenght and speed the most important attributes of a commanding officer?
Don't know if BioWare stated it like that, but I never saw Shepard as the best soldier in the alliance.

Shepard is a field soldier. Not a general. He needs to be able to fight with his troops. Not tell other, more qualified, people to fight while he sits back and "leads". The Council wanted shepard for HIS skills, not because he just happened to command people with skills and therefore takes credit for their deeds. Shepard was picked to be a SPECTRE candidate out of EVERYONE else in the Alliance. It's not like they just picked a random OK soldier. They didn't even put forth a list of the best. They put forth THE best.

Just because they aren't allowed to apply in your country doesn't they aren't allowed anywhere else. In several German SF or semi-SF units (just as an example) women are allowed to apply. None made it through yet, though. And we have female frontline soldiers, too.

We have women SF in the US military. Big differ from an army ranger out hunting terrorist in the mountains. The only combat women get is when it's brought to them. But in that situation is brought to network admins, electricians,  pest control, etc. on terms other than our own. (i.e. to other non-combat types).

How so?

Sure, Liara can stick it to that lady trying to be a man, but Shepard can stick Liara too. And if they postion themselves just right they can stick it too each other.

You do know Liara has a penis right? "Femshep" is missing equipment. That's why Liara doesn't leave "femshep" with a smile on her face like she does with Shepard.

I'm just saying that it's possible for women in my country to become fighting soldiers - even in SF-units. As far as I'm concerned, SF should be the best of the best, whatever gender they may be. If a woman is up for the job and meets all requirements, why not? If a woman decides to become a soldier in a combat role, why not? I don't understand some of the US armed forces policies anyway, sometimes you Americans are way too "oldskool".

Which is why I can totally see women in SF in a future with regular genetic enhancements and biotics. It kind of eliminates the problem of finding people who are able to endure the challenges of SF work physically so you can concentrate on finding people with the proper state of mind. Be it a woman or a man. Hooray for diversity. And boobies.:wizard:

The point was never that there cannot be a female warrior. The point is that no female warrior is going to be the best that humanity has. Shepard is not just some soldier, like Ashley or Toombs. Shepard is the BEST SOLDIER IN THE ENTIRE ALLIANCE.

Two things

A: your shepard, maybe.
B: why do people say "Deal with it."?  It seems contradictory; this is how we are dealing with it.

You should know that, if Mass Effect were real, Asari wouldn't be attracted to anything other than a female human form.

I'd say, for a time, Joan of Arc was the best soldier in Europe.
Come to think of it... she was captured and placed on trial too...

I don't see why people nitpick so much. I lose no content because I play both male and female and paragon and renegade. Anyone has that option. If you limit yourself to only playing rengade or female etc then you obviously lose out and that's not BWs fault.

Uhm, yes, there are women fighting on the frontline in our armed forces. That was kind of my whole point. I'm from Germany. There are women depolyed in Afghanistan as part of combat units. In fact, I saw a documentary about the German are of responsibility just a few days ago featuring several different soldiers, including a female Dingo driver (the Dingo being an armoured car and Germany's primary light IMV used for patrol missions; very similar to the American HMMWV).

Also, who says Shepard is the best soldeir in the Alliance?
