The women in your country aren't fighting on the front lines either. So I don't know why you think the U.S. military is more "oldskool". What country are you from?

The point was never that there cannot be a female warrior. The point is that no female warrior is going to be the best that humanity has. Shepard is not just some soldier, like Ashley or Toombs. Shepard is the BEST SOLDIER IN THE ENTIRE ALLIANCE.

While I think there should be some differences between male and female Shep (nothing major) and I prefer playing with male Shep,I don't agree with you. Who says that a female warrior can't be the best that humanity has to offer?

A different model still doesn't explain the extra dialogue male Shep gets, or the extended sobbing..... How odd.

Why? Because men are generally stronger? So what? Maybe women are faster, more precise, handle weapons better, have better strategies (also important),simply better trained or more skilled.

Uhm, yes, there are women fighting on the frontline in our armed forces. That was kind of my whole point. I'm from Germany. There are women depolyed in Afghanistan as part of combat units. In fact, I saw a documentary about the German are of responsibility just a few days ago featuring several different soldiers, including a female Dingo driver (the Dingo being an armoured car and Germany's primary light IMV used for patrol missions; very similar to the American HMMWV).

Also, who says Shepard is the best soldeir in the Alliance?

Umm, no there aren't. There are no women frontline fighters in your country's armed forces. At best, they are gate/checkpoint guards. I've served with every NATO nation and Australia and have NEVER seen or heard of a female frontline fighters.  I don't care what your media has led you to believe. There are hygiene and physiological concerns that prevent it. It isn't because of some baseless discrimination.

In the beginning of Mass Effect you think Udina, Anderson and Hackett figured they'd just grab some undeserving 2nd rate soldier to put forth as their sole canditate for first human SPECTRE while there are better more qualified candidates out there? It is explicitely stating in their conversation that Shepard is the best they have. Well, that specific comment depends on your background but it is implied throughout the game.

They aren't.  That is why both sexes don't compete in the same leagues/categories in any form of atheletic competition. Physically speaking, men are generally superior at physically demanding tasks. You may not like it. But your personal dislike for nature does not in any way, shape or form change the facts.

Maybe, but there are exceptions to every rule. Shepard is,as we all know, special.

A female soldier could be better than some male soldiers, but the chances of a women being the BEST soldier out of all humanity is 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%. No one is that special.

Comparing any video game to reality is just epic fail.
And don't feed trolls, they just breed and bring their offspring along, it's annoying. :kissing:

It's a glitch. All dialogue and video are put into the game as it's just faster to do it that way rather than cherry pick scenes.   (That's how you can get femshep/Ashley and maleShep/Kaidan romance in ME1).  Somehow the scenes got screwed up.  There are a lot of little glitches in LotSB, especially reguarding femShep.  It wasn't done on purpose, but is most likely an oversight.  End of story.

Dude...it's law. On December 19th 2000, Article 12a of the German constitution was changed after a decision of the European Court of Justice. In January 2001 the first women joined combat units. Ever since, our constitution grants every woman the right to apply and pursue any military carreer they enjoy as long as they meet the necessary standard. I don't know about the US, but we actually make sure that laws are executed. We actually had a female General as early as 1994 (granted, medical branch of the Luftwaffe, but still a general).

Frankly, I believe you're trying to prove a false point. Especially because you claim to have served with each and every NATO nation. May I ask where and when?

If I had got my ass handing to me in a debate and saw no way that my side could win I guess I'd just ignore the fundamental point of the discussion and just shout, "So what, it's just a game" too. Unfortunately, we already know it's just a game and that was already established. But thanks for playing anyway. B-bye.

There are no women sent out into the frontline. alot of time the "frontline" is defined as the country itself (i.e. you're in Afghanistan so you're on the frontline". They can be in any unit they want, but they will never be true rangers. You can rattle of all the political BS you want but there are 0 women on the frontlines of Afghanistan. The only "frontline" women are pilots and people who have had the fight brought to them. They can make a law stating that people in wheelchairs can be frontline fighters as long as they meet certain requirments, but that doesn't mean there are people in wheelchairs on the frontlines.

We are just going to have to agree to disagree. I'll stick to firsthand knowledge and experience and you can stick to what the is written on a sheet of paper somewhere..

I thought this thread was about the differences between the femshep and maleshep between Liara in LotSB.
And Darkhour is already a known sexist-troll on these forums...

Now I get it..."they'll never be true rangers". You're one of those guys who are afraid women are going to cut off your balls if they do the same job. I think you're just a sexist which explains the lack of logic in your arguements. Deny and rant all you want, fact's a fact. If you think rangers are the only one's "on the frontline" I'm not eve ngoing to bother discussing this any further. That's just, how did Mordin put it? "Chest-pounding"?

And I'd still be interested in the source of your "experience". Must have been quite a few tours of duty since you claim to have served with so many different nations...

Darkhour: I'm sure that SOME women could make capable durable fighters in reality. Bet your ass there's going to be women who'll easily kick your ass and can kill you in hand to hand combat (it doesn't require much physical force to kill or break someone's limbs, which you should know, as an (ex-)soldier) and can handle rifles.

And the scenes (except the clipping bug) just indicate that she's more into maleshep than femaleshep.

Not necessarily; many women act differently around males, she is just being herself around femshep.  No forced smiles or sobbing.

I'd literally bet my ass that I could take on any woman on this planet in a fight. Make that, any woman in history. You watch too much TV. Even the body builder women are wimps in comparison to an average sized healthy man.

There not being any canon in ME is like the SR2 not being to heavy to land in a planet's atmosphere.
