Aside from the various Liara "facts", one thing I actually noticed and always found strange is that in the intro of ME2 Kaidan and Ashley both wear the same armour, this armour is Sirta's Phoenix which is Ashley's standard armour in ME1...

Later on Horizon instead, Kaidan actually wears his own standard armour (I think it's the Aldrin Labs Onyx, like Shepard) from the first game...

I'm not trying to imply the devs were suggesting Ashley as the canon VS, since there is no such a thing as actual canon in the games, and in fact I myself love both Kaidan and Ashley and have and half-half rates of both as VS...

It's curious however the devs didn't actually gave Kaidan his armour in that scene, I don't think it would have been that costly to actually give him his original model... :/

If I had to make a cannon or the standard shep experience it would be solider Mshep, paired with Liara, does X for the galaxy. If it was a movie I'd do the same.

If there had to be a canon or standard Shep I probably wouldn't have played Mass Effect. If they try to do that for a movie I won't watch it. That's not what this game or this franchise is about, to me.

Hun, excuse me? Miranda was the one who reconstructed Shepard's brain, she was the one who made sure his personality and memories stayed intact. Therefore, she also has an intimate knowledge of Shepard's very being.

Naw, apparently by the addition of ME: Genesis Liara is described as "the most beautiful Asari [Shepard] has ever seen" or something to that effect. Therefore writing over how ME1 players treated her. This prompted me to treat her like **** (aside from the relationship call, glitched options and all that) in the next few playthroughs.

The Genesis comic book says that Liara is beautiful 'like most asari'. Could just be me, but it came off more as a passing comment about how blue girls have universal appeal and less 'her pants, let me get in them'.

None of my Sheps will ever have anything going on with Liara. She is ok as a friend but otherwise my Shepies hearts burn for humans, drells and turians. After the warm reception by Wrex in ME2... hell, they like that specific Krogan also... but Liara as a romantic interest, no. It is not that any of my Shepards would have anything strict going in their braines regarding female/female, nope, one of them would most definetly go for Jack, it is simply that neither is extremly fond of asai, particulary Liara. Counting Liara, there are two or three of asaris that "try to hit" on Shepy. My Shepy thinks that asaris years spent as those dancers etc is a complete waste of time... specialy when she in her own short life time has to fight so many things. Enwy, maybe so. But basicay what personal bothers me about Liara is this: she is supposed to be "without the gender", but as even Kaidan points out, she looks like a female. The only asari that I realy came to like was that bartender matriarch in ME2. In my very humble opinion Asaris should have a much more androgenic look around them, it would suit the rolle that they re playing a bit better. That is just what I think.

As far Liara being a canon romance for Shep... with that I completely and utterly disagre. If any of the romancable characters could realy claim that spot it would probably be Ashley/Kaidan, but I dount that even that would be so. I dont believe that any of the romances is more canon than the other. You have choices about with whom you want your Shep to be, and when you make your choice, that char is canon for that particular Shep, nothing less and nothing more.
