What crap is he spewing? forget this 3D junk but saying sharing the TV better? Don't make me laugh no one makes split screen co op games anymore.
Ghost Recon. Nuff said.
Yeah even if I was interested I know I could never talk my friend into another generic war shooter.
It's not a generic war shooter. A generic war shooter would be Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3.
OH right sorry generic tactical shooter.
No, it's a stealth tactical co-op future war simulator.

haha, I thought he was going to get booed off stage when he said the NGP is gonna support AT&T 3G.
That was pretty good, it would've been great if it'd moved this thing on to whoever's after sony.

Remakes are all very well (even though outside of the graphics, it will probably be inferior to the original anyway), but making a Halo 4 is just taking it too far IMO.
Halo 3 literally wrapped up basically everything, plot wise - other than the 5 second cut-scene they were forced to tack onto the end as an 'appetiser' for this.
If the game was being made by Bungie I wouldn't have as much of a problem - but I can't help but feel that this is just milking a name for money.
(I should clarify that I'm not disappointed with the trailer at all - but rather the existance of the product itself).

Curious to see what Nintendo has tomorrow but for the most part I've seen what I want to.

I would love to see what Nintendo has in store tomorrow, but I won't be able to watch it live.
So, far these look like the games I'm keeping an eye on in 2012:
BioShock Infinite
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Tomb Raider
Mass Effect 3
Hitman: Absolution
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Bah, I'm suffering from information overload right now.

Not many original titles there. Have we really slipped into an era of making a single successful title (e.g. Halo, CoD, BF, etc.) and then just sticking with it - making 20 sequels, prequels, side-stories, etc. around this title?
Creating a new franchise entails serious business risks in a market that is already quite fickle. Hence, the conservatism. It's much like investors sticking to certain commodities and government bonds in an economic downturn - hey, Treasuries are not the most exciting security to invest in, but at least they are theoretically safe and pay a risk-free return.
I don't mind the sequels.

Do we really want to see a CoD 28?
Personally, I usually draw the line at trilogies. Once you've made Game X #3, that should be about the step off point.
Halo 4 is a bit of an abomination in my eyes. It isn't even being made by Bungie, leaving it in the same category as movie 'sequels' which feature completely different actors playing the same roles and have little to nothing to do with the original movie.

But I think there comes a point where all great franchises need to end, and move onto something new. Did we really need a Pirates of the Carribean 4? I'd prefer if they'd left it at 3 and done something else with the budget and crew's time.
Would you like to see The Matrix 4? Lord of the Rings 4? What about Star Wars 7, 8, and 9? Titanic 2?
It all comes down to personal opinions on our end, and easy money on the end of game companies. But it's an interesting topic.
It's a wonderful experience being drawn into a new world, with new things to learn, characters, factions, history, etc.
I enjoyed DA:O and ME1 a great deal for these reasons. Without going into any details about their gameplay/other technical improvements/steps backward, DA2 and ME2 both already had a distinct feeling of 'I've already done this - there isn't much new to learn here'. It is sometimes exciting to return to great characters and a fantastic setting (or even just a great gameplay idea) - but only so many times.

i'm not sure how to feel about the move, i can understand why they spent a lot of time with it tho
as for the Vita i think it succeeded, i think pricing it at the same as the 3DS is a huge move for Sony because they've always had a leg up on stuff like services and bang-for-your-buck, i think the lackluster reception for no-glasses 3d on the 3ds + apple making touch screen portable gaming popular will help the Vita as well, personally i bought a PSP and didn't like it much but loved the DSi's stylus based games so we'll see how the Vita does
i give Sony's press conference an 8.5/10
(gave Microsoft's a 7/10)
really score doesn't mean much from a critical viewpoint... Microsoft's press conference last year was considered easily the worst but they made the most money in retail that year so... whatever, new gadgets really go a long way no matter what people think of them
hopefully Nintendo's new console blows everybody away for good reasons

If you're one of those that cannot stand even 2 or so posts branching off topic to a broader picture, I respect that - but your own post to complain about it is equally (arguably more so) de-railing the thread.
