I'm still liking the biotic punch concept, too. Hell, isn't that what Samara did to Morinth to finish her off? Her hand had the glow of a biotic field. When Kaidan was talking about how he killed Commander Vernus, he said "full biotic kick, right to the teeth."

I would just as soon have the blade mounted on the weapon(s). It wouldn't be a bayonet, in the traditional sense. It would be retractable, and be oriented on the weapon(s) in such a manner that would it would stab the enemies when performing a butt stroke or pistol whip.

You know, while I fully support the idea of a biotic punch rather than a reskinned omni blade for Adepts, I have never interpreted what Kaidan said as that he physically kicked Vyrnus. I always got that he was using a figure of speach, like when someone says they 'kicked something into overdrive'. What I always got from that conversation was thet Kaidan simply used something like Throw, but due to anger put too much power into it.

I wouldn't be surprised. Back in the first Mass Effect, throw could easily kill an enemy just by pushing them into a wall, didn't matter how much shields they had. But it would be a possibility that he did it literally. It would certainly help make the biotic choice of melee attacks bigger, I have it all figured in too. Regular biotic punches for frontal assaults, makes enemies stagger back if they manage to survive, sends them flying if it's a killing blow. For stealth biotic attack, Shepard could bring down an opponent from the back and do that palm strike Samara/Morinth do to the face of the opponent, which I'll assume breaks the neck, if not shatters the skull. Hopefully the cracking noise wouldn't alert others.
And hell, why not? Say a biotic kick is possible, biotic kick to the stomach anyone? Could be a special attack.

Oh, I'm not saying its not possible to use Biotics to enhance a physical attack, hell I even went into a long winded explanaition on how they could do just that somewhere in this thread. I was just saying that in ME:1 with the information we had (before ME:2 came out and we saw Samara and Jack using physical attacks) there was very little to suggest that Kaidan used a physical attack rather than a biotic ability. He was in a Biotic training camp where they were forced to use abilities for everything after all.

They were a bit vague, oddly enough I can't honestly see Kaidan using any melee attacks. It just seems strange.

If all classes get omniblade as heavy melee that is just plain lazy on their part. 10 months to make 5 other heavy melee how hard can it possibly be?

It's not hard at all. Amateur modders with enough knowledge could probably do it. They're just settling for less instead of going the whole way, it's a lazy move. All the time they have to get the game ready, and I bet they won't even go for it.

I don't see why people have a problem with it lore wise. It's not like stabbing people with omni-tools is anything new, look at Kasumi's shadow strike.
She isn't stabbing people, though. She smacks them with her omni-tool while stunning them.

But if it can be used to smack people why couldn't it be used to stab people? (Besides, from what we've seen so far it's more like 'smacking' them anyway. And the latest trailer showed an omni-tool punch as well)
All I'm saying is this isnt the first time an omni-tool has been used for melee attacks in Mass Effect.

I could see that as an engineer or sentinel attack. Minus the teleporting of course...

Rebuilding the Normandy: $20,000,000
Buiding a team of elite operatives: $2,000,000
Upgrading the ship: $1,000,000
Stabbing the turian Councilor in ME3 when he approaches me saying, "Ah yes, 'omnitools that can stab me.'" Priceless.

As i understood it, every class has the same standard melee and uses the omniblade for stealthkills. But only the soldier uses the omniblade as melee power attack and every other class gets their very own way of melee power attack.

Looks cool to me. I don't see the issue lore-wise; you get tech shields and combat drones which both have some kind of physical resistance to them.
While the Tech Armor and Combat Drones are similar to the Omni-Blade, they are not at the heart of the lore argument. They don't excuse the ridiculousness of the Omni-Blade.
