And to anyone who has a problem with the lore of this thing. Go back to ME1. play a mission against Geth and look at those blue "hex-shields" they´re bringing up, similar to the ones used by the Collectors in ME2.

While I want a viable explanation to it. It fine with me. I mean look at the Elite's Wrist blade back in Halo: Reach...this is pretty much a bigger version than that and I'm sure it works in a similar fashion in terms of power and what-not.

I can sorta understand both points. But maybe we are all missing something about this Omni-blade that needs to be explained.

Ah come on! I've been explaining the omni blade on multiple pages now.
Really the omni blade is one of the things that is actually codex friendly since ME1, with no retcons or rewrites. Hell it even follows the codex more closely than biotics do!

If the omni-blade is the only insta-kill melee weapon, then it's overpowered as hell.
Agree, more so when the action around you freezes so Shepard can take a nice hit. Wonder if life-regeneration will work when using the blade, because we would have some little exploit there.

What's the big deal?. It's just a melee attack.
But it's breaking the lore...
Like if about half of the other powers aren't breaking the lore. Hell, the Vanguard's main power is one of them.
Deal with it.
How it is breaking the lore? Hard light exists... you see it in tech armor and attack drones all the time....

Its not necessarily Hard light and it doesnot break the lore Also-

1. The omni tool has physical components, the holographic light is just the GUI.
2. The blade is not holographic, despite bioware's silly marketing calling it such. (Casey confirmed this on his twitter.)
3. The blade is made using the omnitools minifacturing capability, which it has had in the codex since ME1.

This is very good for the lore. I agree they should change the design, it looks a little funky and the one in a few trailers looks like a rip off of the Halo energy sword which should be rectified.Nashiktal wrote...
Its not hard light! Look i'll try to make a simple list here...

My joke was going to be:
Iif it's a hologram, then it has a computer program running it, and it will do what ever you programmed it to do, which includes being programmed to cut through anything:wizard:

Exactly, and why is everyone getting so worked up about this? No one whined about attack drones being holographic, or tech armor or even **spoilers** the shadow broker's shield... Why did everyone wait until now to get worked up about the use of holograms as solid objects?Minister of Sound wrote...
Maybe it's just a kinetic barrier, like in Pinnacle Station.

If the omni-tool light is just the UI as you people emphasized so much, how comes that a physical blade extends from said UI?
Where is it fixed to? Does the Omnitool has a mini Beam-apparature to materialize it there and a tractor-beam to hold it there in place?
Second, why is everyone just assuming that critics to the omni-blade have doublestandards? Yes, the hard-light issue is no new one, but who says we don't dislike that either? Why are we getting worked up now? Because it became a common tendency to implement such features opposed to the rare occasions that they have been before.
Third. From what I have read, the "Omni-Blade" can be lorefriendly. A manufactured mono-molecular shard is plausible. That is what most people are fine with or at least can tolerate if they are the more rigid opposition. But a mono-molecular shard does not sit in the air along with a holographic interface. It HAS to be attached to somewhat somewhere, because otherwise, logic dictates it would just fall down. And no, you can not tell "it is held by Mass Effect fields", because that is as lazy as one can get. Just make it stick to Shepards wrist and let that eggregious UI vanish and everything is okay, no one would get worked up.
It is primarily the design of that thing that is edging people.

Shepard's going to have an Omniblade. Accept it. Period. If you don't like it make yourself an adept. Heard they're going to get s/thing else instead.

You, my dear, have absolutely NOT read what I wrote or just didn't care and went on to spew your nonsense anyhow.
IF you care for what I think, read the edited OP. If not, take your "Deal, with it", stick it up your rear and go somewhere else because obviously you did not come here for a discussion.
I am getting sick on those "Don't like it? Don't play it!" nonsense people are throwing everywhere. I am very well aware chances are extremely slim that any change will be made, that however does NOT disqualify any criticism/proposals we or I have, ... as opposed to what you might think.
Have I made myself clear?

Without physical components, omni-tools can't exist in the first place.

*mimics EDI's voice*
Have I offended?
Now, without any provocation intended, I'm sorry you got it the wrong way. Wasn't my intention to upset you. But still, you say it yourself, chances are that they're not going to change it now. How about that barrier knife of the adept? Wouldn't that be s/thing for you?
