I love how people are ****ing about a melee attack for Soldiers.
Seriously, lightsabers?? So anything that's shiny, made of energy, and is for stabbity-stab equals a lightsaber rip-off?
Really?
Yes, obviously.

It was a small demo to show the KINECT functions in the game...suprhomre wrote...
I'm so dissapointed about the demo. I'm also thankful that they have delayed the game because judging by the look of the demo it sucks. Please, don't let this be another DA2.

i like it, seems appropriate. thought i dont get the light saber comparisons, they arent anything alike. its more like the wrist mounted blade in assassins creed then anything a jedi would have. Maybe its just a well played Troll

Appropriate...? How is a laser knife appropriate at all for the Mass Effect universe? Especially in the last game of the trilogy, why add something that has absolutely no basis in any established lore?

On the one hand, knives and bladed or edged weapons have no place in a firefight.
On the other hand, I'm never going to use it for that very reason, so whatever. Looks neat, I guess.
lol so if you out of ammo and you enemy is upclose what are gonna kill em with? your conversation skills? bahahaha blades are there for CQC encounters.
Sounds like you only play as a Soldier.
Hint: There are five other classes. I can tell you that my Adept never worries about running out of ammo, because guns are secondary to abilities.

Alright... I was going to leave it but...
How is a laser knife appropriate in a universe with GIANT LIFE DESTROYING ROBOTS, TALKING ALIENS and PHYSICS BREAKING SPACE TRAVEL?
Get your head examined.
Seriously. This is the isse you're going to nit pick.

So are you going to discredit nearly every sci-fi game/show/novel/movie ever made? It's science-FICTION for a reason, but there are established lore and rules that you have to stick by.

It looked lame IMO, and does not really fit the sodlier. Omni-Tech blade for tech based classes sure, but the soldier should have a basic wrist blade or something if you need to add this in.
My only real worry is how it effects gameplay. It is a shooter not ninja gaiden. Now did they miss or something because it did like nothing damage, up till now they were talking about this type of melee attack OSOKing the targets. That was way to fast for a OSOK move, why have a shotgun at all, hell why have weapons for anything other than covering fire so you can close and stab people if something that fast is OSOK. If that is powerful it wrecks game play. If that mild damage+stagger done is what it does hey its fine.

I really like the concept, and the animation, but it goes completely against the series' lore and tech.
The Omni-Blade is LITERALLY contrary to everything in the Codex. It is physical, hard, and SHARP light. LIGHT.
I would much prefer some kind of hidden or retractable blade in the wrist that pops out for the attack. As it is now, it makes no sense whatsoever from a lore, tech, and logical standpoint. One of my favorite things about this series is that, aside from the Mass Effect, is quite realistic. This just screams "because it looks cool" at the cost of believability in the story.

Some enemies are designed to go up in close combat on you, so some defense against it other than Shepard's weak elbow is more than welcome.
