Like the title sais my computer is really good but on very high settings of this game it is really bad like the FPS drops to around 10fps and the game just goes very slow my computer specs are

8gig ripjaws DDR3 ram
Radeon 6850 HD video card
processor: intel core i5-2500k 3.60GHZ
windows 7 64 bit ultimate
have like 3000 gigs space on this computer as well

I do not understand why my computer can only take this game on normal settings not on very high it is stupid I paid a lot of money on this computer and it is useless :( any help or ideas? Thank you!

Edit: My graphics card is in the second slot not the first one does that matter? My motherboard is a SLI one but I am using my graphics card in the second slot not the first one.

You might want to re-post this in the PC technical self help forum. Or mac self help forum, if it's a mac.

Have you updated your drivers yet? And is your computer a laptop or a desktop?

The thing about graphics card is this; as I understand (from reading other posters' posts) it is the second number that is important not the first number. As the first number shows the series and the second number shows how 'strong' the card is. (it maybe more technical that this, but this is my understanding og things) In your case, the 8, would be the important number.

It could also come down to the fact that you have a 64 bit edition of windows 7, although I somehow fail to see how this should be so.

Hello it is a PC I really would like some more feedback or anyone with any information on why my computer can't run this game on very high settings when my computer was purchased a few days ago with some of the most amazing stuff in it so please anyone have any ideas? I look forward to reading them!

Depends on the resolution you're trying to play at, but most likely not enough graphics horsepower the 6850 being a "mid-range" card. A 6870 would be better, 6950 or 6970 would be high-end (6990 being the top-tier dual-gpu card). Or on the NVidia side GTX560 or better.

Sorry but that didn't make no sence you know my graphics card is powerful enough for this game so is my other requirements and I am stuck to play this game on normal settings can't even run high why is this? I would love feedback or help on why I am having problems my graphics card is fine no need to hate on it.

The 6850 is a powerful card. It benchmarks very well, and can handle many of the most demanding games on high settings in most resolutions.

When you say "normal" settings, are you referring to "High"? If so, you're in the same boat that almost everyone is in.

The DirectX 10 and 11 features are poorly optimized. It's a symptom of the old engine and being tacked on there.

Hi :) the game runs smooth on High settings with AAx8 and AFx16 and the high resolution package box ticked but whenever I tick the other boxes the boxes that can only be ticked when you change the settings to very high the game just drops it's FPS so much I just want to vomit I thought I would be able to play this game on very high settings with this new rig I just purchased since I spent a lot of money on it but if this FPS drop is normal for other computers then I am fine with that I am just concerned if this is a personall problem or it is happening with many other rigs out there thank you :)

Are you running DX11? I think the 6850 is DX11 capable, so what you might be experiencing is a slowdown due to the optimization.

It means the software isn't coded efficiently. It's consuming more resources to produce the same effect than what is usually necessary.

Because of the engine's age that was used in Dragon Age 2 (6+ years) and the fact that the DX10 and 11 features were tacked on as sort of a last minute feature, it is very poorly optimized.

In short, it's a fault of the game engine and not your hardware.

Also, you could try disabling AA or turning it down, then try enabling the DX11 features. AA is also a resource hog, although does more for the game visually than the newer features in my opinion.
