I lost many hours of game-play due to this bug... so far this is the only way I have found to work around it:

never trust the auto-save. whenever it auto-saves I do a manual save.

after doing a manual save I have to go back into the save menu and look at the save I just created, unless it shows a screen-shot I know the save is corruted...

I sometimes have to save five or six times before it makes a valid save...


If I die, and select "load last save" that save also becomes corrupt, so to avoid this I have to go back out to the main menu and load if I ever die....

this is very frustrating, please fix this.

If you have used the endless crystal glitch in Redcliffe, it will at some point corrupt your savegames.

This is the biggest disappointment I have had with any game I have ever played. I have put in 50+ hrs into my character and have had no problems loading up saved games until today. None of my saved games will open and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to fix it. Honestly, I am pretty ticked off about it, considering the amount of time I put into my character. I spent time doing every single side quest available, even going all over the place to find the armor set pieces. What a waste!

Has anyone found a way to fix this problem? I was playing a considerable amount today, and all of my saved games became corrupt. I (like most of you) use several slots to save my progress all of which are now corrupt. I spent around 50 or more hours on this character and would really hate to see all of that time wasted. I am hesitant to start a new character because I don't want it to happen again If anyone has any info or can help out please let me/us know!!

After seeing that Somedevil5 and Foxfire0105 files were corrupted, all 50 hours, I stopped playing. Sorry that happened to you guys. I only had 3 or 4 files corrupted and at that point and came to the boards to see if anyone else had the same problem. Obviously so but on a more catastrophic level. Hope they have this problem fixed soon.

Just posting here to say that it has now officially happen to me and it's rather annoying. Something that shouldn't be a problem is. Level 18 Warrior and I was enjoying the game immensely and then all the sudden 5 saves become corrupt (46 hours of gameplay) and I've no way to fix it. Fix the problem!

Just joined the forum to see if anyone else had this problem. As bad as it sounds, I'm glad it's not just me. I had two save files--the regular and the auto-save--which were roughly five, ten minutes apart. I saved my game last night before turning off my system to get something to eat--I'm still on my first system and am trying to keep it that way--and when I came back upstairs to boot up my game my resume was corrupted, and my auto was corrupted. I scraped together the money to buy this game, logged in over 50 hours, and I was one quest from the end of the game. I'm so hesitant to play any other characters because I'm just waiting for the files to essentially up and die on me that I just can't get into it any more. Which is sad, really. It would be nice to see this fixed sooner rather than later; all the other bugs I've seen people complain about are not game breaking what-so-ever. Annoying, yes, but not character destroying.



Also, because I realise it needs to be said, I did not exploit the gold glitch or whatever it is. I hadn't heard of any glitches until my boss told me about it today after I expressed ire at my corrupted files.

This just happened to me. I was playing it said that xbox live disconnected, I saved and exited to reconnect when I went to play again all save files are corrupted.

same thing happened to me with all 5 save games i was at 52 hours in the village of haven and then i went to work came back and my heart came out of my @ss this is the second time this has happened the first time is when i left redcliffe for shale and i just left redcliffe to the village after dropping of the lyrium potions for harrith and yes i did use the glitch for the crystals but i dont see why that would matter i dont feel like starting over doucheware would be cool if they could fix this and i hope they do for all our sakes

 it just happened         wtf.... wtf... WTF!
used crystal glitch, gained about 200 gold, only at level 12
bought and equipped several premium items: spellward,  ring of ages, several gm runes, etc
at 55hours( 33% explored) in wyrmling lair  i saved on my last slot( about 20 hours worth of saves stacked in slot)
went  to load, not resume, the above mentioned notice appeared
for some reason i felt more sick than my ring of death last year

please help!

I just lost 5 save files to this random corruption bug . 21 hours of gameplay on my mage, I guess that'll teach me to do the money glitch, but all the videos or explanations of this "glitch" have no warning whatsoever. Bioware either needs to get rid of this "glitch" or fix it so it doesn't f*ck up our save files. God Damn It.

I'm most disgusted by the fact that once I reported that I had the problem and sent in a ticket re the problem, I never received ANY kind of response from EA/Bioware. I had the sinking feeling when EA purchased Bioware, it was going to be all downhill from there. I had to restart my game from an almost 15 hour earlier save and from there, I've had no problems, yet. If the problem persists, I FULLY intend on pursuing whatever action necessary to return this substandard product of EA's, to EA.

I had just over 90hrs on one of my characters...used the "crystal glitch" a couple of times previously and no problem (quite frankly, I thought this was just a harmless glitch/exploit .. never even looked it up online as the game and the saves still worked properly). saved yesterday afternoon and again last night multiple times , even re-loaded from some of them at different points, and today..BAM.. missing/bad saves !! (currently, my saves for my other characters are working, but they only have a few hours each on them)



apparently, it is not a problem soley for those that had used this particular glitch, as some are reporting this problem and have never used the glitch.



also, I have a problem with the character creator, too... as far as the facial beard customization goes, I cannot get a clean shaven face anymore..at best, I get chin stubble.. nor are there as many choices as when I first played the game on release day....each choice now takes up two choice markers. don't know if the two are both caused by the same problem -- possibly due to the downloads?



on a side note, I had come across a post where a pc player had mentioned that the missing saves problem had been happening on the PC also, and it was fixed in one of the patches.... and yet, so far there's been no mention of a patch for the 360 ?!? Or even a response from BioWare/EA... wonderful... my faith is starting to get rattled with BioWare even more.

I love the game, but.. c'mon..BioWare/EA, is this going to be fixed or not? Or is this simply a return the game for an exchange of something different.... one of those, "it could've, would've been great, ...if only" games?

has any one received the message about the save files with out just leaving redcliffe because i believe if you just leave redcliffe and save you have a higher chance of the save file corruption

I was doing the landsmeet quest...in Denerim ... everytime I saved in/just after redcliff they still worked fine for me.

It stinks so many of us are having this same issue. Regardless of the reason behind the file corruption (crystal glitch or not) it should never happen, period. This is a huge loss to all of us that have committed so many hours towards the game and have nothing to show for it.



I submitted an email to EA support almost 2 days ago and still haven't received any feedback. I guess that whole "we will respond within 24 hours" doesn't really matter too much. Honestly, I would even settle for just being acknowledged by EA and having this issue addressed. Even if the response was that they are aware of the problem and are trying to fix it, at least then I wouldn't be ignored. I have always been a fan of EA, but their customer support is horrible. It seems to me that they are content with taking our money, but not standing behind the product enough to ensure that their customers stay satisfied when something goes wrong.



Keep talking about the problem and making enough "noise", EA will have to hear us sooner or later.

When you guys who were doing the money glitch and got the save corrupts were you saving and reloading for the glitch or were you just running in and out of the store. I could see how saving and reloading over and over could easily corrupt the save files in a block of saves... while just running in and out of the store wouldn't have anything to do with your saves.

For those who don't know about the glitch there are two ways to do the glitch.. buy, save, reload buy again... or buy, leave store, run back in, buy again.

I just ran in / out of the store...but, that was done hours upon hours and many saves before my save files became "missing"

also, Foxfire0105.. I completely agree. The bigger issue isn't the issue, but the lack of a response to the issue.
I had 90+ hrs invested and now..nothing...and no reason and/or expectations of a fix.

I ran in and out a few times, then sold the crystals and kept playing. I didn't end up saving until 30 minutes afterwords. That's the thing that leaves me stumped about the situation. I can see how saving and reloading frequently like that could cause potential problems, but entering and leaving a store a few times shouldn't leave your files unplayable.
