I'm surprised they didn't patch this within the first week. Hell, I didn't even know about it until just now. I'm no longer going to use just 1 or 2 saves to save on HD space. I'd rather be careful and finish the actual game.

glitch exploit or not. The "New" Blacksmith in Redcliff (who has a great bow) is no-no territory in my current and LAST playthrough. My game hates that guy. More and more, I feel that the people saying it's an npc inventory issue are right. I sold him the crystals, and in buy back they were different prices! Some were buy back prices and some were purchase prices...now I know something is wrong. I feel that if you used that exploit the game should STILL delete the items you have sold after you exit the vendor menu. That's just standard operation. I want my money back...Sorry, stated that several times already.
This very well may be true. It does appear that the majority of posts I see from people who claim they haven't used any exploits to gain money tend to be where they've gotten the new blacksmith to appear. Could just be coincidence. I still think the majority of these problems are stemming from people selling too much to a vendor. Lavafrog22 clearly identified an upper limit earlier in this thread. The irony is that a problem like this is totally expected if you must have a hard cap on save file sizes and you know a little about programming.
I would like to address your other concern. What you see with the "buy back" prices is not something wrong with the vendor. In fact, it is functioning completely normally. When you sell an item and then leave the vendor, the item stays in the buy back screen but the price changes to full price, as if the vendor was selling it normally. Buy back prices only apply when you are currently buying and selling. Once you leave the vendor screen, the deal is done and you don't get to buy it back for the same price.
If you travel to another area and straight back, the next time you see the vendor the item will have moved from buy back to junk. Finally, the next time after you travel and come back the item will move into the appropriate tab of the vendor's actual inventory, appearing as if he was always selling it. Or you can just travel to 2 others areas on the world map and come back. Accomplishes the same result.

Is this STILL an issue? Seriously? Really?

Yes, I encountered this issue just this past weekend. I am at the *Final Battle* with my first character on my first full playthrough and cannot finish the game. Upsetting, to put it lightly.
Multiple saves don't help. Every save I currently try to make is corrupted. This character is done. Sadly, don't know if I will try another.

After reading all these posts though I'm starting to wonder if it's more than just item overload that will corrupt the saves. Since the save file is a fixed size it corrupts when there is too much data I think (merchant overload for example), I don't know much when it comes to the technical side of this but maybe there are other bugs that cause the save file to go over the limit. Anyone with technical knowledge have a guess at what these could be?

Still no word on if they are even planning a fix? Shouldn't be too hard to work in a patch for this programatically. Just a purge on inventory items after a few hours of game time.
Stopped playing when it happened to me about a month ago. I want to finish the game / start a new character, but don't want to bother if this will keep happening...

Ugh, just corrupted with my first Rogue playthrough at Landsmeet 55 hours into the game. I sold almost everything to Bodhan just out of convenience - guess that is what did it.
Pretty sure that's what happened to me when I lost all my saves, now I just destroy everything instead of selling and use the item dupe to get gold. Sucks having to cheat your way through the game but I've got about 4 characters finished and a few more at various points in the game and haven't had any more corruption issues. Just be careful not to overload your chest in Wardens keep, pretty sure that also causes corruptions.
