Yup, they care enough to use us as unpaid beta testers and free marketing tools. Posted Image

I had the 360 "This file is corrupted and can not be recovered" (paraphrase) bug.

I never did any money/exp glitches, nor did I 'overstock" any vendors with stuff I was selling.

What I *did* notice, however, was once I got my total number of save files across all playthroughs to total more than 110, all saves that were more recent than the 109th save got corrupted.  I reproduced this issue successfully by deleting a few saves and then playing/saving up to and over 110 total saves again.  So it's either the number of save files in the folder or the folder gets too big at about that point.

So I'm thinking it might be related to that.

I've gone through and deleted all extraneous saves that I know I will no longer use, and am down to 38 total save files across all my characters, and have not had this problem.

I still had 5GB of storage when I had more than 110 total save files for origins, by the way.

As a future note:  could future expansions and/or games in the DA franchise have their own folders?  Having only 10 characters including Awakening playthrough characters (since my imported warden means a new "character" in terms of saves) is not all that much once you consider the replayability of this game.  And if the folder size is a problem, as I suspect it may be, then having (for example) awakening files in their own folder vs. origins files might help the folder size issue.  Thanks.

I'm from the US so I have the appropriate region, etc. for the US in terms of my machinery and game disc coding.

For the record, a (PC) DAO savegame weighs from about 3 to 13 Mb, generally. The more you progress through the game the bigger it gets. With Awakening, you're looking at 16Mb files.

Do you think it's possible to transfer a DA savegame from your 360 to a PC ? See if we can get a look at what's going on inside ? Or is it locked down tightly by some bs ?

Hmm, I'd be surprised if save files transfer from 360 to pc or vice versa. That would actually have been great for me since I started playing on pc and ended up losing access to that machine, so I started all new games on 360.

But using different operating systems between consoles and pcs and proprietary concerns being what they are, I seriously doubt save files would transfer.

Lost all of my save games. Save file is corrupted and unreadable (paraphrasing)

Playing Dragon Age: Origins on the Xbox 360 Elite. Completed all DLC and most of the side quests. Dwarves, Mages and Elves recruited. Played through most of The Urn of Sacred Ashes. Rang the gong on the mountain top and fought the High Dragon. Died. Went to reload, all saves with this character corrupted.

Sounds pretty common on this thread. Has the cause been positively identified? I don't want to log another 70 hours just to lose another character and game.

EDIT:  Oh, and I'm not exploiting any item duplication or money bugs, and using no cheats or such.

Hmmm, sounds like the amount of saves also can corrupt the data. So far it seems to be overloading merchants or the equipment chest and now too many save files. The save files on the 360 are not varied in size they are all the same, I think this might have something to do with it. I don't think that using item glitches for gold actually corrupts anything only the selling of these items overloading merchants, especially the crystal glitch.

So we've got two things to do... Limit number of saves, and not to sell everything to one merchant.

Has anyone gotten an official reply or acknowledgment from BioWare or EA? I just submitted a ticket asking for nothing more than telling me what the cause is so I can just not do it again.

We've been waiting six months for a response, no answers unless you count the generic "we're looking into it" bullsh*t they've been feeding us for six months. They can't/won't comment on specific bugs usually, many people have sent e-mails etc to the same end. Sadly, when it comes to any info about bugs/patches they are strangely silent, your best bet is to check the different threads here for workarounds. Yes, it sucks having to do that, but it's really the best way to avoid the sheer number of bugs and most importantly the game breakers.

Sadly the only response we get is to come here and report the bugs. We just run in circles while they count their money it seems, very frustrating....

Wow, this is still going on? I was going to purchase both Return to Ostagar and Awakening but had to check cause I couldn’t take having to restart again only to get it corrupted and it still hasn’t been fixed? It’s always worth a good laugh, though I guess the jokes on me ‘cause I paid sixty bucks only to have an extra game on my shelf and nothing more.

Yeah, I'm also waiting for this to get fixed before getting Awakening. I managed to get through the game before getting my saves corrupted 35 hours into another play through.

It's absolutely amazing to me that this game killing issue has been outstanding for all of these months. I'm used to cursing EA for different reasons, but it's sad that BioWare is also falling under the low quality of EA's banner.

Bioware is really just there in name since EA bought them, the customer service has completely disappeared and instead we see maketing and PR instead of any real effort to fix the game. EA will kill Bioware's name then toss them aside when people start to realize that they is simply using the Bioware name to get more sales. I mean a modder has just released a patch that has about 50 fixes and still the company that made the game has done nothing, I'm very disappointed and also very glad that I didn't waste my money on the expansion. The bottom line is that they simply don't deserve our money until they actually give us some support, but until more people actually start voting with their wallets we will only continue to see things go downhill.

Hi

Yesterday I run into this bug too. Fortunately I have many saves so I only lost about an hour game play. First of all; my money on Bodhan "overloading". Since my corrupting saves start after I did some buy/sell in the camp. I sell my stuff elsewhere and… voila, my saves stoped corrupting. After this I spend a lot of money to buy back useless stuff and destroy it. Saves work fine.

About BioWare/EA. They WONT FIX IT!! Simply because if they can they already did it. Therefore they CAN’T! Not unless a mayor fix, witch they won’t do. And because they won’t fix it, they won’t respond it too. So I suggest to everyone to move on. It is a sad thing I know. But after 6 month all of us have to face it and deal with it.
