Do any of you guys have the 250mb internal hard drive on your xbox?... I always switch out the storage device in the options and make a backup save before I shut down the game.. Well, not always but ever since I read about corrupted saves on the xbox with this game.

I did do the glitch to see if it worked.. but only enough to fill up my back pack once.. so that was maybe 15 times in and out of the door.. I never had a corrupted save from it though.

Also just wondering how much space people have on your hard drive?.. each save is 17mb so I could see how running out of room for saves could easily screw up that block of memory.

I just can't see how just using a glitch could corrupt the saves so I'm trying to think of alternatives to why saves would corrupt. Has anybody tested older games they played recently to see if the save corruption spread to those games? I don't know how the xbox stores files though you would think if all of your saves from one game became corrupted it could spread to other games.

The probability of so many people (not just on this site) having this problem and it coming down to lack of space on a hard drive is pretty slim. I don't think it has anything to do with hardware one bit, but rather a pretty serious software problem that is devastating players characters. It needs to be addressed and fixed soon. I appreciate you looking at all angles here vyvexthorne, sometimes it does end up being the simplest thing, but I don't think that is the case here.

My thought is that if they have all of the info from our characters being uploaded to their servers all of the time, why wouldn't they be able to restore our characters based off of that? It just seems like all of the information is there, they just need to put it back together. That's my hope at least.

You know guys, I remember having a very similar game save corruption issue with EA's

Lord of the rings: The third age. The save system, and this game for that matter, are very much alike.

This might be an ongoing issue with their design model.

Like many of you fellow gamers I have this issue with corrupted saves, happened on one character then couldn't load others. I too, lost multiple characters & many hours of gameplay. After a cooldown period of wanting to do everything from breaking the game to selling it, I put the disc back in. I cannot stand having games unfinished w/ achievements I know I can get. So, back to my point, I try to start a new game & that damn message pops up "corrupted save". WTF? I deleted every DA file/save on hard drive including DLC & still can't start a new game. Repeating again for EA CANNOT PLAY GAME AT ALL!!! Right now I can't do anything with the game. Wanted to start over because I like the game and wanted to finish, if I could make it that far. This is pathetic, spent 60 on game, and bought DLC & as of now it was all a waste. Not recommending game to anyone!!!

I just wanted to make the comment that I actually put in a ticket on November 7 re the game saves. I first noticed ppl talking about the corrupt saves then but it wasn't a widespread problem at that point. To date, I have never received any kind of acknowledgment or response from the so-called Support Team. I repeat, IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT CORRECTED, I WILL BE SEEKING A REFUND FROM EA/BIOWARE FOR THIS SHODDY PRODUCT. I hope if enough people cast a bad light on EA/Bioware and how the game is unplayable for a lot of people, we will get a resolution. I will take it as far as it has to go for a resolution. Much like EA had to replace their shoddy first gen Rock Band instruments, I want a similar resolution wherein I get my money back if they don't fix the problem.

I'm yet another who attempted to make use of the "crystal glitch," and it now seems that any efforts to save will automatically result in file corruption. Now, if we simply knew whether that exploit is the true culprit, I might go ahead and start the game over. But having looked over the various threads devoted to this problem, there are many who claim to have had zero knowledge of any such exploit(s), yet their saves were damaged anyway. So, until this issue is resolved, I won't be playing this game anymore.

Nonetheless, I remain hopeful that this will be addressed eventually; until then, I encourage all who continue to experience this problem to post here, especially if you haven't already done so.

Also, this poor workmanship (and apparent lack of support) does not bode particularly well for Mass Effect 2; I definitely won't be buying it until it inevitably reaches Platinum Hits status. I think we can be certain that game will be buggy as hell, especially considering how its release date has been moved forward.

Apparently, we, the users, are the only ones trying to figure this thing out... THANKS BioWare/EA for your non-response and lack of support!!
As far as the hard drive space goes, I have a 360 elite with the 120G hdd, which is mostly empty, the only game on the hdd is DA:O (which is 6GB, I think). I'm wondering, and please post if you do... is this problem occurring everyone that has the game saved on the HDD? Or is it happening to those who play off the disk, as well?

Side note: I did start a new character last night to take the place of my 90hr "missing" one. I got to Ostegar and saved. As of tright now, that save is working .. as well as all my other characters that are no further than Lothering. I'm still holding on to hope that my "missing" character saves will, at some point be "found" and corrected and therefore, I have not deleted them from my hdd.

I've already notified my game shop about the problem, which they didn't kow about, in case others bring their games back for an exchange/refund. I was offered an exchange, already, but I do not believe the problem is on the disk... I still think the downloads and/or the connecting to EA servers for downloads/uploads may be the guilty party in this mystery case.

Based on what I've read on other forums, sites, etc, I think the problem actually stems from selling too many items to the same vendor. People have also stated that they got the glitch from putting too many items in their Warden's Keep storage locker. I think once the vendor has too many items in their inventory, the save gets corrupted.

My guess is the Bella glitch exacerbates this issue as people are more than likely selling all of the crystals to the same vendor. This is just my guess, but it could explain why people who did not do the exploit are running into the problem.

Ahh.. the vendors. I can see that happening maybe.. If all you did was run down and sell stuff to the blacksmith over and over or all you did was sell stuff to your guy in camp... or if you were trying to horde everything you could into the storage box. The game has to save all the vendor equipment.. maybe vendors and boxes actually only have so much space available to them and once you pop over that limit the save corrupts... Maybe... It's worth experimenting with though..

Like I said I tried the glitch and I never had a save corruption but I was also at the same time that I was testing the glitch I was testing whether or not different vendors would buy at different prices so I ran around the map a bit. I never sold to one vendor,, I always just sold to the closest vendor.

But that's a good thought.

I encountered the problem with having only a few weapons and maybe three sets of armor in my WK chest, and many, many saves after using the crystal exploit. I was in denerim at the time, and only sold my merchandise that I had accumulated in the denerim quests -- to a few of the vendors there, not just one.

I am at 72 hours playing and this bug is hitting me. I never used any glitches at all. Very very dissapointed in this and Bioware/EA's programming/testing/QA. This is the third major bug/gitch I have ran into and I am also getting no response from Bioware support. (I took time out of my day to thoroughly describe, document and report a different bug and got no response). These bugs completely ruin the gaming experience. I am regretting spending $80 of my hard earned cash for a glitchy game + DLC.

In addition, in case someone from Bioware is actually reading this thread, it didn't hit me until after I installed the game to my Xbox 360 HDD.
I also get the sense that it is related to too many items in the Warden's Keep chest, because I have mine loaded (I stash everyting, hardly ever sell), and the bug hit me after dropping a full load of ~110 items in the chest. This would not surprise me as the other major bug I ran into is related to the Warden's Keep chest.

Does everyone who has experienced this problem have Warden's Keep DLC?

I had un-installed my DA:O from my hdd and tried to play my "damaged" saves character...playing off the disk, the saves were still "damaged" (no surprise there).  With the game both on and off the hdd, all my other lower characters will still load -- once again, none of them have been past Lothering, with the exception of the new char. I created to replace my "Damaged" main char., which is now in Redcliff.... I'm about to see if this one will still load.

My WK chest is/was not very full at all and the crystal expoit was used many hours (and many re-loads) before being hit with this "missing" saves problem.

I still hold firm to my belief that this problem is associated with at least one of the downloaded quests (Shale and/or WK) and/or with the connecting/uploading to the EA servers. (I'm leaning more towards the latter, as if it were the d/l quests, something should have happened much sooner -- not many hours later -- in my case , anyway.)

What a waste of a great game. Or rather, what a waste of what should've been a great game!!

This continued lack of response/support, does not bode well for the much anticipated ME2.  Which is sad to say, as I am one of the many who anxiously await its release...... and am now pondering waiting to get it (if at all) at least a month or two after release... in case of something like this game killing glitch appears in that game as well... especially with the incorporation of ME 1 saves!!   Then you'd be killing off two games, if the ME1 saves -- during incorporation -- became "MISSING or CORRUPTED" !!!!!

I sicken as the thought passes.    Posted Image

Last night's redcliff saves - on my replacement char. -- are working still, so far.

also, on a side note, the character creator is now working properly for me again.. (the problem w/ stubble options taking up 2 markers each-- limiting the stubble options). I found this out, as I am currently creating another character to test the overloading of merchant theory.

Just wanted to say I've had the same problem, and apparently spelled my name wrong.

Just happened to me last night.2 save files were corrupted but not my auto-save. This was my 2nd character and i did try the money glitch and sold all crystals to the black smith. Game was installed on my HDD and i have 77GB of empty space.

I checked my other character save and it worked fine. If this is do to the money glitch they really need to fix it by either getting rid of the glitch or just fixing the problem. Like most of you I'm very disappointed in this issue along with many of the other problems in this game. I just sent an e-mail to EA, I recommend everyone else do the same so maybe we can get a response.

pretty lame...

I have the temporary solution.

DONT SAVE IN REDCLIFF!!!!!

or just travel to alot of areas and sava on each one.

1 or 3 of them will be fine.

first off, Redcliff has a few autosave areas (unless you turn autosave off) second, it doesn't happen only to those that have a save in Redcliff. I, for one, was in denerim when I got hit with this "damaged" bug and had no Redcliff saves left at all.

Also, while in Redcliff, you can't just leave to save elswehere..unless you don't want to complete Recliff's quests, that is. (with exception to the opportunity to leave to go to Circle Tower, which is after the town of Redcliff quests..and during the Redcliff castle quests.)

Someone mentioned the corrupt games not having an image. I figured I'd go check that out but all of my files have the image. I had the corruption issue twice on the same guy and am wondering if maybe it is related to merchant overload. I ended up with full bags going for the Ashes and went back to camp and unloaded. I then went back, finished up the ashes, went back to camp, unloaded, grabbed Sten, went to Frostback, got sword info, then went to Redcliffe to get Stens sword.  Saved after we got the sword, tried reloading and corrupt.  My save files are corrupt back to a save I did in camp.

The FIRST time I noticed the corruption I went to get the sword WITHOUT Sten. The dwarf gave me the key but the chest never went sparkly and wasn't lootable. I thought it a bug initially because I've been able to do that before on other chars. (Go from the mage tower docks right to red and bypass the guy who sold the sword to the dwarf). So that's why I retried it with Sten.

What I'm wondering is if maybe I went back and unloaded too much crap onto my dwarven merchant at the camp (while doing the exploit) and kept going not noticing the save-game corruption, then went to a save BEFORE the overload, and then returning from the Ashes quest with overflowing bags, re-triggered it in this new series of non-corrupted saves thus making them inherit the corruption.

I didn't know about the exploit on my main and can't do it with him now and he's almost done with the game and no glitch, and none of my other toons have done it, but I'm an altaholic so I swap toons a lot and none are as far as my main and the guy with the corruption, however the only one who is corrupet is the one who did the glitch.

Maybe it is an overloading of merchant inventory corruption USUALLY caused by the exploit (since most suffering seem to have done it) but also affects others who might stick to one or two unload points?

Or who knows maybe someone put a comma where a period should have been in the code somewhere. :P ::shrugs::

Yea, I'm pretty sure the problem is overloading items in one certain area. Selling them to one certain merchant or putting a lot of items into the Wardens Keep chest. Hence why the mass majority of people that have this issue have also done the crystal glitch, but the rare occasional person that says they have no clue what this glitch is could have just been selling all their items to one merchant.
