CORRUPTED SAVES
Create a new save whenever you enter a new area
Load the save to ensure that it's stable
Deal with the area quests
End of each quest, create a new save and load it to verify its stable
Tedious, I know, but it got me through the game.
I verified that a corrupted save does NOT spew trash into the other nearby save slots, what happens there is that if you are saving often and not loading to verify it's good, you will just keep saving trash saves over your slots. When you die or load any of these, they are corrupt. In the panic that ensues, trying to go back to an earlier slot that has also written trash will give the appearance that the latest save trashed the nearby save slots.
DO NOT PUT MORE THAN 148 ITEMS IN ANY GIVEN MERCHANT OR STORAGE SLOT
I made a self rule that if there were more than 120 items in say, the armor tab of the warden's peak party storage locker, to remove an item and either destroy it or sell it to one of the vendors I had emptied out in my shopping sprees. It seems like you can do this with each tab and it'll remain stable. So, 120 weapons, 120 armors, 120 crafting items, etc. etc.
The gold glitch does NOT, in so far as I can tell, cause any problems with game saves. What it does do, is allow you to buy up so many items that you can overwhelm your storage areas. So in an indirect way, it can lead you to disaster if misused heavily. The game really isnt designed for those of us who like to keep every item we find in the world (as opposed to say, oblivion, which handled inventory rather well i thought).
If you are doing a quest like 'Hearing Voices', or any other quest with cut scenes, and you do what you should do for the quest and nothing happens:
Don't go talking to the character of interest, don't leave the area. Put the controller down and give it a good five minutes or so. Eventually, the game seems to catch up and resume. I noted that towards end game, the triggers for loot generation and for cutscene activation took longer and longer to fire.
The worst of that, I found, was in the 'Hearing Voices' quest. At the end, if you leave the area or talk to Ser the game will glitch out, replay cut scenes you've already seen, and the monster at the end might not spawn, meaning you need to reload and try again. This also fubars your ability to give the amulet to the derranged elf chick outside the orphanage. Going back inside, will trigger the cutscene and fire traps, but no monster shows up and yer stuck.

Also a big thanks! for the heads up regarding quest rewards and such. Those also seem memory related as well, and if a little patience is all it takes to enjoy this game without throwing a controller through a nearby window/wall, then I think I can manage that.

The whole thing sucks terribly and is certainly not something we should expect from a finished product... However, while the anger/resentment in this thread is justified, I think it's really very misplaced.
As someone pointed out earlier (but was ignored), Bioware made the game for the PC, Edge of Reality ported it for 360 and PS3. Based on interviews, Bioware played the game and worked to develop concepts for the consoles, but didn't really do the console specific coding.
There was an error in the PC version that corrupted save files, but it sounds like it was very different from the cause of our troubles, and Bioware fixed it promptly. Why haven't they touched the console ones yet? Probably because it's not their software.
The console Dragon Age is running on the cross-platform engine created and maintained by Edge of Reality. The save corruption isn't a problem with the game as designed, but seemingly the way the game interfaces with the 360 (likely the limited file size). Blaming Bioware in this case is like going to see Avatar and blaming James Cameron if the theater accidentally destroys the film in mid-screening.
Looking at Edge of Reality's portfolio would support the claim that the inflexible file size is (at least partly) responsible. The company has ported games like Tony Hawk, Monster Truck Madness, Spiderman 64, Incredible Hulk, etc... none of these games were RPGs and none of them had any consistent accumulation that would necessitate growing save files.
I'm not sure who can fix the issue. The silence of EA and Bioware would probably mean they can't do anything about it (there can be some bizarre legal restrictions with this sort of thing), and the fix may have to come from Edge of Reality. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any contact info on their website other than an email address to apply for jobs.
I may send an email their way and ask it to be forwarded to their technical department.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting EA Technical Support.
I'm
sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties, and apologize for any
inconvenience.Sometimes certain configurations can conflict with your
game. Set any controller, sound, and video settings to their default
setting. This can be done deleting the game's settings information from
the hard drive. Try playing the game again.
This could also be an
issue involving corrupt game save files. You will need to remove game
related save data by following the below given steps.
1. Power on the Xbox without a game disc inside to display the Xbox dashboard.
2. Select Memory and press A
3. Select Hard Disc and press A
4. Scroll through the save games until you find your specific game.
5. Press the A button while selecting a files to delete them.
6. Confirm deletion when prompted.
7. Repeat until you no longer see any of the game files left on the Xbox hard disc.
8. Restart system with game inside. Try running your game again.
I
hope that resolves the situation. If you have any other questions, then
by all means feel free to let us know. You can also refer to our

Unless I miss my guess, their asking me to restart the game and replay 50+ hours, not a good sign...

kraidy1117 wrote...I am very disapointed in Bioware now.
Hello
Dont forget, that Edge of Reality did our console port of the game. I dont know how far Bioware is involved to any things concerning the xbox version, but their lack of support allows a small view behind the scenes. So I dont think its Biowares fault.
But said that, Im wondered why there isnt anyone from Edge of Reality keeping the communcations up. Commmunications are the one and only key to keep customers calm. Your work can be bad, you may be not the fastest in brain and maybe you are a lot more expensive than other companies on the market, but without communications you are in a dead end and those effects in a time like today are nothing but desastrous.
I just wish next time Bioware would change their ordered team for xbox-games. ME2 is interesting me too, of course, but from what I got in here so far, it could be the same on another game. And I dont want my hobby stressing me.
