Hmm, I'm kind of interested in knowing the stats and whatnot of these weapons. I may evade it if they're too powerful- hate doing that in RPGs (Finally I beat that boss! Oh look a cool looking weapon! Oh, it's not as good as the preorder thing I got from the start...).
Also, will there be a physical copy of the collector's edition or will it be digital only? If digital only, will if be through digital only, will I have to put up with origin to get it?
There's the physical Mass Effect 3 N7 Edition (CE) as well as the digital deluxe edition (which is essentially the CE only digital) You'll need to use Origin to get the digital edition. Neither BioWare nor EA seems to want to comment on the rumors that Origin will even be needed to play the physical version of ME3 so it's still up in the air.
And I won't be pre-ordering or buying any version of ME3 until I know for a fact that Origin spyware will not be a requirement to play the game,

Yeah sure, it is made by EA. But it ain't all that bad anyway.
And to answer your question:
Origin is PC-only. No need to worry about that crap gettin' on your Xbox.

Because once Origin is installed, it mines your pc for data and sends it back to EA. Origin's terms of use also state that EA may share this information with other parties. EA claims this is "For marketing purposes". The only difference between Origin and normal Spyware is that Origin is intentionally installed whereas normal Spyware is usually installed unintentionally - without the pc owner even noticing.

I'm not buying an X-Box (a gimped PC) to play one game, when I already have a real computer for doing whatever I want, games or otherwise.
As for the question about spyware, it's not an assumption, it's right there in the facts, as laid out by Robhuzz.

Even though I've played me1 and 2 many times now, I'll probably do another play with both those two and go straight on me3.

I couldn't care less, ain't got anything to hide. It's not like they can access my desktop and start browsing between my files.

Actually, if you don't take any precautions, Origin can. The EULA currently says that you either agree to let it, or you don't install.
Would you be OK with a physical product that had, as a condition of sale, your agreement to give the seller a key to your residence, and permission to search it whenever they felt like? You "don't have anything to hide", right?

I read through all of the threads on what was to be included in ME3, and will definitely purchase it.
When I purchase it will depend on the DRM. If it requires Origin and that is as reported so far, I will wait 6 months or a year after release until that is removed, and puchase then. Of course I'll be purchasing then at a substantial discount also.
If they don't get invasive with the DRM, I'll pre-order and pay full price.
I won't make the decision until we know for certain what the DRM will be.

And where did you get that grand idea that after six to twelve months Origin won't be required anymore? Because last time I checked when you buy a game that requires you to install Games For Windows Live or Steam it stays that way.
Just to fuel your panic, Origin changed it's TOS again, now users can't sue them.

Basically, eventually full price sales numbers will drop off. At some point after that, they will take steps to squeeze more money out of the title. That will include dropping the price, and may include removing the DRM (it won't really be needed at that point anyway, since the primary piracy that costs them money will take place when the game is new).
If a year goes by and it still isn't removed, I'll wait for a crack and then buy the game - but install and play the cracked version. Bioware/EA certainly deserve to be compensated for their work, and the game looks to have huge potential. They do not, however, deserve to be able to access my PC and upload information at will, particularly not information that is not related to their game. If that is the condition for installing ME3, then it simply won't make it onto my machine.

I know I'm clutching at straws but I'd like Bioware to confirm what you actually get with the Collectors Edition. They have give out information, but people have said that some things like the bonus squad member and mission haven't been confirmed yet, and that would be the main reason why I would be buying this. I would like to know what I'm actually paying an extra £30 for, because I'm quite happy just to shell-out £40 for the standard version if the DLC isn't an exclusive for the CE and that it can be purcased later on. Pre-ordering something and not getting all the details on an item is a gamble for me, especially with it being the amount it is.
Every DLC (except maybe weapons or armor) will surely be sold later on seperately. So if there will be a squad mate in the CE it will be sold seperately also.

This is why I was so disappointed when I heard EA bought Bioware. Was wondering how long it would take to EA to corrupt Bioware . <_<

I couldn't care less, ain't got anything to hide. It's not like they can access my desktop and start browsing between my files.
And yet browsing thru your files (and indexing their content) is exactly what spyware does! Honestly, this should be illegal. Yes, you can choose not to buy the game from them; but since the Collector's Edition is only available from EA directly (or indirectly, via their stores), it's like saying: "You can choose not to buy milk; but if you do, you give us permission to ransack your home, and use everything therein we find of use."
Anyway, I'm not so delusional as to think they'll change it now; but hell will freeze over first before I buy that Collector's Edition from Origin -- that much is certain. I'll wait for the regular STEAM version, then.
