I just found out about what all was in the collector's edition, made me pretty excited. GameStop kinda gave me the lowdown on it and I knew that I had to get this.

Why do people assume Origin is spyware??

Yeah sure, it is made by EA. But it ain't all that bad anyway.

And to answer your question:
Origin is PC-only. No need to worry about that crap gettin' on your Xbox.

Because once Origin is installed, it mines your pc for data and sends it back to EA. Origin's terms of use also state that EA may share this information with other parties. EA claims this is "For marketing purposes". The only difference between Origin and normal Spyware is that Origin is intentionally installed whereas normal Spyware is usually installed unintentionally - without the pc owner even noticing.

I bet almost every program out there does this.

I couldn't care less, ain't got anything to hide. It's not like they can access my desktop and start browsing between my files.

And yet browsing thru your files (and indexing their content) is exactly what spyware does! Honestly, this should be illegal. Yes, you can choose not to buy the game from them; but since the Collector's Edition is only available from EA directly (or indirectly, via their stores), it's like saying: "You can choose not to buy milk; but if you do, you give us permission to ransack your home, and use everything therein we find of use."

Anyway, I'm not so delusional as to think they'll change it now; but hell will freeze over first before I buy that
Collector's Edition from Origin -- that much is certain. I'll wait for the regular STEAM version, then.

Appearantely, Origin comes with all normal hard-copies bought at retailers too. (If it's an EA published game, that is.)
This is.. I don't know, sick?

Hmmm. Perhaps I have to do my homework better next time.

Don't expect ME3 to appear on Steam.

As much as I'd love to get it, it costs $128.00 here in Australia... Seriously?

Why not?! Both ME1 & ME2 are on STEAM as well (even the DeLuxe versions).

EA has Origin, remember?

Besides, they don't like Steam. And they'll probably come up with some cheap excuses as to why (am I using it right here?) it won't be available on Steam.
If it will be available on Steam, however, it'll be a pleasant surprise.

I'm not sure if this has already been addressed here (72 pages of comments is A LOT to go through), but just out of curiosity: will the alternate squad member outfits REPLACE the original ones, or will we be able to use both sets?

Re: Origin topic, may sound shocking, but I'm not too worried about that. We tend to forget how much private information we make easily accessible these days, just by browsing on the web, making phone calls, using credit cards and so on. Even if the worst comes to the worst, there's usually a workaround made by smart, resourceful individuals.

Though the actual purpose I'm posting something is this, a possible flickering star on the dark sky for us UK residents:

Hate to say it but the same could be said about dead space & dragon age origins, Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age 2 were on steam for a period of time and both were removed off it :crying:

Doesn't really mean anything, other than the fact that you can get a guide for ME3 from amazon.

Terminus - yes, you had to preorder.

Hood? No, you didn't get that due to your own lack of interest... because you can't call it any onther way. I somehow have all the DrPepper gear because I bothered to look for a free universal key here on the forums when the promo was still valid... DrPepper drinks weren't even avalible in my country then.

Just to double check something, if you preorder CE from Gamestop and not Origin, do you still get all the extra stuff?

Another thing, the N7 Hoodie, is that a real item or an alternate casual costume for Shepard?

I believe you can still get the recon hood, any Dr.pepper codes would work. I used a few Dr.pepper codes from the Dead Space event and got the mass effects stuff B)

Try this?

Edit. Go to the Dr Pepper website, To the promotions tab. At the bottom there should be a Drpepper-Ea Games, Log in and scroll to the right, there should be a Mass Effect 2 game. Click on what you want and enter any code. it should work. :police:

As far as I know, the Dr. Pepper codes don't work anymore.

Due to the sheer amount of ****ing and whining that occurred when exclusive pre-order bonuses were announced for ME2, I would be surprised if Bioware did it again this time.
