Is Mordin voiced by a new voice actor or am I imagining things?

Apparently it's a temp voice as all the recording hasn't been done yet.

So...any images of female Shep yet? Or is marketing going 'Posterboy' again? :/

Considering a fair few female gamers didn't buy ME due to assumptions influenced by marketing you could only play as a guy, reinforced by the ME2 box art, I would have thought they'd want to remedy this. Appealing to a wider audience, and all.

That's a little bit ridiculous. I don't go to the store and not buy Metroid because I'm male and it has a female protagonist. The gender of the protagonist shouldn't really be THAT critical to someone's purchase. If people are so shallow as to base their entire purchase of the cover art, I don't want them playing games anyway.

Of all the amazing things to love in these previews, I'm most impressed by the fact that there are children in Mass Effect now. Actual children.

And the first appearance of one just had to break my heartstrings. Thanks a lot, BioWare. :[

Maybe they won't be, but it's not like you have to worry about sales revenue, is it?

Plenty of people are drawn to RPGs for the freedom it affords playing different genders at the least, races/species second. Character creation, as it were. No character creation reduces it to a 3rd person RPG.

It's not that they deliberately snub single gender or 3rd person protags, just that they will give preference to RPGs that provide a choice. If games like Mass Effect give the impression it's a cardboard cut-out male hero only, some people will overlook it because they prefer to look for a game with character creation.

The box art is one of the single most important impressions a game can make to attract attention. ME2 turned plenty of female customers away because of the presumed established male protag on the cover.

DA2 forumites had to raise hell just to get a *screenshot* of female Hawke. I'm not sure why marketing was being so precious about it, but I hope it's not the same fate for female Shep in ME3.

If that's a ridiculous and shallow thing to wish for, well. *shrugs* Nice to know your opinion, I guess.

The ME3 CE edition says the box art will have both Male and Femshep on it. I"m excited to see that.

Bad news.Your not going to get what you want. What is critical to someones purchase is their buisness since it is their money.Oh well.

I have at least one friend who didn't buy ME1 until late in the day because she wasn't aware you could play as a female Shep until I told her. She likes RPGs that give her a bit of choice in character customisation, nothing wrong with that. And a sale is a sale, no? And the ability to choose one's gender in the ME franchise is a feature, and one utilised by a fair number of people. So why not market it?

I can understand that Bio wants a very clear Shepard image with which to sell the game; and I can understand why, given the current and target majority demographic, the iconic Shepard is male (understand without necessarily approving!). But that, imo, is not a good enough reason not to give FemShep more airtime than she gets. Not enough time to show her at E3? Hmmm ...

@Esbatty. Yes, I'm also glad to hear that they're at least being a bit more inclusive with the CE box art.

Yeah I just watched all the vids. . .

. . . I don't think I should watch anymore. You've more than made my day, and I now have to pre-order your damn super-ultra-deluxe-mega addition.

CURSE YOU BIOWARE! TAKE MY DAMN MONEY. HIRE ME TO PROOFREAD OR SOMETHING. I WANT TO HELP!

. . . and to think. Until February I hadn't even finished Mass Effect 1. I started it like a million years ago, then got stuck on Ahern's Survival mission in the 2nd DLC and put it aside for like . . . a year and a half. The second I finished it I went straight into ME2. Then did ME1 again on another character. Then ME2 on that character. And then got every DLC. Now I'm hooked. (I even got one of the novels).

GAHH. Anticipation overload.

If I never say it again. Thanks guys.

Just . . . thank you.

Loved the gameplay vids, especially the Earth one. Hate to be critical but I'm not sure I like the new NPC running animation. Makes them looks a little...silly.

1:36 and 1:53 marks of the Extended Walkthrough Part 1 video: is the pistol launching a grenade of some sort... or is this a talent with very fast animation?
