When they are seperated into cells of 10-20 people and are 100~ or so people total, the majority consisting of scientists? Yes, it's hard to imagine Cerberus having an army of soldiers.

Right just checked the wiki (occasionally risky, I know) and it says Cerberus consists of 150 operatives in 3 cells as of 2185. All run by The Illusive Man. If the Reapers get him they can indoctrinate the entire operation.
Do we know what year Mass Effect 3 starts in? TIM may have had time to do some major recruiting.

Note 150 operatives - that's high ranking, think Kai Leng, Jacob, Miranda, David Archer. The common soldier wouldn't count towards the 150 count, in the same way that Ken, Gabby or Kelly don't count towards the 150 operatives. For all we know, they could have an army of at least 1000 strong.

The illusive man would do anything in his power to stop Humanity from being destroyed. He's never hidden that from you. If he were contacted by the reapers and a deal was struck.. save Earth in exchange for Shepard, I guarantee you the illusive man would probably make that deal in an instant.

We don't know everything, and everyone's speculating. As for Shepard saying they've been indoctrinated in the video, it was also said that the Protheans built the mass relays and the citadel. We find that out to not be true. The same can be said here.

Stop taking every little piece of every demo as fact. The only thing you can conclude at this point regarding cerberus indoctrination, is that shepard believes them to be indoctrinated.

As Mr. Preistly's said, there's more to be revealed. I've often thought myself that TIM was a reaper agent. Sent to put a divide between humanity and the other races. Cause as much confusion and chaos and infighting as possible so an enemy divided is easier to conquer. But some things just don't add up. Still.. it's tough to deny. I'm also eager to see what develops between Aria and TIM from the end of the third book.

All in all, it's going to be a boner of a good game and finale!

I hope theres more to this.

I mean I feel like I wasted ME2 to try to stop the Reapers only for the people who helped me join them.

Maybe TIM has a trick up his sleeve.

So, fight Cerberus (ME), work for/with Cerberus (ME2) and now fight Cerberus again (ME3). Who writes this stuff?

Glad my Shep's a paragade

Cerberus maybe realies Shepard is indocternated. Shep is after all either giving the reapers more food or making it easier to eat the galaxy.
Thats why they have to stop Shepard. Concidering that Shepard is the only one spreading the knowledge to the public. When the reapers arrive , chaos will ensue. The genocidal machine that have wiped out all life in the galaxy X amounts of time are back to do it again.
Cerberus is most likely the one trying to do the dirty work for system allience and other civilizations.
Shepard is the vanguard for the reapers.
But hey thats just my plot twist theory.

In ME2 a lot of people say "You can't trust Cerberus", but then they never say why. I get it that the game is probably trying to drop the player a hint, but that's meta-gaming. I want to have story reasons to distrust them but you aren't given any.

Thus their behavior in ME3 (or what we've seen so far) is a bit perplexing.

Fighting Cerberus was optional and they were completely irrelevant to the main plot of ME1, which makes it all the more jarring that they ended up being such a major player in the story afterwords.

Tali and Garrus gave good enough reasons. Vasir did so too. Jack is walking evidence as well. But I guess when someone is so gullible that they believe Cerberus is doing the right thing just because TIM said so, it doesn't really matter.

No, none of that indicates anything about why Cerberus are supposedly people I can't trust.

Really, Vasir? I'd trust Cerberus before I'd ever trust another Spectre again.

I trust Cerberus because I know their goals and their goals are the same as mine. Towards that end they've helped me a lot. Nothing Tali or Garrus or Anderson say has any bearing on this.

You need to explain which actions Cerberus has taken how those actions make them untrustworthy in regards to fighting the Reapers.

I loooove the people that adored and worshipped Cerberus. And now they're crying. Well, if you couldn't read the writing on the walls, this makes it glaringly obvious... Supporting Cerberus is not a good idea, they're not friendly. Enjoy your "betrayal" by those never-loyal terrorists.

They don't need to be friendly. My Shepard isn't friendly. They don't need to be loyal either; my Shepard doesn't require the self-indulgent ego gratification that entails. All he cares about is that their interests and his align, and that they don't actively work to contradict his goal; namely, to defend humanity against the Reapers and all threats beyond.

What they do need, in order to be well-written characters and plot elements is to be consistent with the internal logic of the story. Which they don't seem to be.

He actually didn't mind them

I just checked out a website that summaries what we need to know about the ME universe with a list of ten.

And I was thinking that there could be some great content in store for Sole Survivors with Biotics related to Cerberus.

And with the shots of the Lazarus project, I wonder if any of those implants would end up being "Chekov's guns" to fight indoctrination?

So I guess, I disagree with the OP, and can't wait for ME3
Edit: Darn link.

Saphra... Jack and what she went through aren't good indicators of why they're not to be trusted? Did you happen to run into them in ME 1? No offense intended, but if they sound great to you, you're obviously missing something, or an elitist nut-job yourself.

All Garrus says is "you remember what kind of sick experiments they did?" and then later on he talks about how he wishes they joined up with them sooner.

Okay, then tell me how Cerberus can help you (not me, you. I'm not working with people that kills their employees the second they're of no use or goes rogue) stop the Reapers, the machine race that systematically wiped out all advanced life in the galaxy for millions of years. Because based from what I've seen, very few wants to work with Cerberus to begin with.

You can't be serious.

They snatched up as much of your old team as they could. They built you the most advanced warship ever conceived by humanity. They forward tech and intel in your mission to stop the abductions. Oh and I almost forgot, they brought Shepard back from the dead.

If that's not working toward a common end, what the **** is?

No, why would it be?

What is the twist, that Cerberus is unethical? So is Shepard, so is are the Spectres (Council), and so is the Systems Alliance.

No shocking revelations there.

The experiments in ME1 don't prove anything except that Cerberus performs experiments.

Garrus first recalled the ME missions related to Cerberus, but then said in the first dialogue that he wishes that they've joined Cerberus before. I agree on Tali and Jack.
I have to say that while I don't like Cerberus much,  (and I hate the fact that I can't be more explicit about that in ME2 with everyone) though I have to say that they are the only one willingly to see what's happening to human colonies in ME2, I really can't understand why TIM joined (if he's not indoctrinated) the Reapers in ME3. It has no sense in my opinion.

There is Pragia too.
I can work with them in ME2, but I can't trust TIM. Expecially with a Sole Survivor Shepard.

That he is and Mordin is another alien that's eager about working with Cerberus. He even agreed with TIM's plan with the Collector ship.
