I loved the ambient atmospheric music in ME1, from the Normany music, the presidium, the wards, zhu's hope, vigil and noveria music. Sadly, ME2 was just filled with fast action sequence music, it just didn't have the same immersive and vibrant feel as ME1, I don't think there was any music outside the clubs on any of the home worlds, it detracted from the experience for me, as one of me1's strongest aspects is the music and how diverse is it (it has its fast paced music and then it's ambient music as well). Please Bioware, bring back the atmospheric music.

I agree, to a point. Likely many of the areas Shepard will visit will be in a state of panic or disarray and hearing calm ambient music would be a bit of a dissonance. There'd probably be a few "port-in-the-storms" that'd be suitable however.

Yeah, watching the gameplay footage, they definitely went back to ME1 with some of the music. I think the ME1 soundtrack was classic, each zone had its own theme, and easily recognizable...even ambient music. I think they got away with that from ME2 a bit, alot of the music seemed generic, and it didnt really differentiate the zones like it did in ME1.

I'm kind of on the fence about this. When visiting the citadel and hearing the music, it does a good job at relaxing. While that may be fine for ME1...I feel like it would be weird to walk around the citadel with no one panicking and hearing the citadel music playing in ME3.

I would kind of wish tracks had more sci-fi feeling to them instead of mostly being flat out orchestral.
I think in terms of originality, "Noveria" from Mass Effect 1 is the only track worth mentioning. I agree with OP. We need more like those. It made Noveria such a great place to be remembered.
Alexander Brandon would have been just PERFECT man for Mass Effect music.
I mean, who doesn't remember this amazing piece as one of the finest they've ever heard?

ME3 needs more ambient music, and less orchestral stuff.

I have nothing against ambient music - in fact I would be happy to have it in the game. However, I must say that I got really tired of the Citadel ambient music repeating itself over and over. The endless repetition of hose four notes began to annoy me after a while.

I wish there would be more ambience, but we know its not going to happen because of the CoD crowd.
