Everything seen so far shouts "Gears of War" action game, including a silly "Awesome Button" melee lightsaber. Show us some of the "promised" enhanced role playing abilities. Or were that just empty words? I kinda expect it.

As far as I can tell from watching the E3 press conferences over the years, you give a quick preview of your game during the presentation unless you are what the publisher is going to push as the big release for the year (Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3 etc) I was looking at IGN's E3 schedule and they have what looks like a 20-30 minute demo at the start of tomorrow so I bet we could see something promising there. They clearly have more than one demo at the show, I think we should start worrying if we don't see anything about roleplaying during the week.

Yeah, so far they showed only shooter stuff. Some RPG stuff would be welcome.
Also, it seems their aim is "awesome" and everything else is sidelined.

Showing the RPG aspects obviously has a much higher risk of spoilers. Although I have to agree that I am a tiny bit worried that ME3 will again lose more RPG elements in favor of action.

Combat looks fantastic - but yeah - hanging out for the UI and Stats screen.

Do you guys not realize this is what was mostly shown for ME2 at E3 2009 as well?

right now they're selling the action portions of it, and when it get closer to March, they'll be discussing more and more about the RPG elements

Where is the role playing? The same place you put everything that you are embarrassed of... locked safely in the attic. Take it bread and water thrice per day and empty the bedpan every night and *maybe* no one will even know it's there.

ps - I am REALLY hoping this is not the case. I might still be calling myself a gamer solely on my personal investment in the Mass Effect series. If 3 is a huge let down.... I just don't know if my little gamer heart could handle it.

They talked at length about the RPG aspects, including some ways your decisions will impact the story of ME3. You just need to dig deeper.

When the interviewer just asked about the extended roleplaying elements Mr Hudson basically said they are brought to a new level, you can evolve your powers more.

They have yet to show a fully functional bathroom in Shepard's personal quarters. This game is going to suck.

The combat gameplay is what got the most upgrades, and they're showing off the upgrades. They're trying to catch people's attention. Notice how all trailers on E3 have focused on big action scenes. It's what they do.

Well, you can now talk to the game, I guess that is some kind of roleplay? Also, enemies now have shields.

I can see it now, Mass Effect 3, best third person shooter of E3 2011. =/
I'll probably still buy it, but as an RPG I will not enjoy it.

ME2 was already a streamlined action game. The Devs said that they wanted to bring back RPG elements compared to ME2. Empty promises if you ask me.

Thats what people thought when they showed action DA2, too. And we all know the result.

Ah yes, "roleplaying". We have dismissed that claim.
