Watching the ME3 gameplay demo on the TV as we speak, and one thing I have noticed is the vastly improved animations for everything in general, but ESPECIALLY squadmates.
While they still have a stiffness to them, they no longer move like a tank. No slow turning, no *tank* rotation, but they actually look like they are running on the ground instead of *driving.* They also move much more natrually during cutscenes. They don't stand like maniquens now, they move ambiently. They still use "stock" gestures that we have been seeing since day one, but they do so in a more fluid manner. Instead of a "Sequence" of gestures, its more like reactionary emotes if you get my meaning.
Shep also seems to slide into cover much better. HE still slams into it, but no more *twitch* in between cover transition.
Did you guys notice any other cool animation tricks they did?

They seem to be much more fluid and that I appreciate. Only gripe is that it feels like they're 'gliding' to me. Could just be the fact that what we saw is just a demo and so some 'roughness around the edges' is a given, but still.

Really? I was a bit disappointed with them. I mean, they looked the same as ME2 to me (apart from Shepard's new moves) and there was plenty of twitching, snapping, and so on, which was slightly disappointing because I was hoping for an improvement. Still, it's early days and they have plenty of time to polish the game.

They were good overall, but something about Shepard on the turret just bugged me. Maybe it was the lack of movement or something, but it was like watching a vegetable.

Really? I would suggest you play ME2 again and watch your teammates move around in combat. While teammates still seem to do that weird "Diagonal walk" when moving to cover, they don't do the vehicle pilot walk. They don't drive around the battlefield, but actually run to cover.
It still needs work, but compared to the previous games it is much better.

Shep's animations are great, I haven't seen much of the Squadmates to really tell, but I did notice a few of the weird animation issues ME2 had in the Demo with some of Cerberus' Assault Soldiers

Yeah the camera never really focused on the squaddies, but you can spot a few good moments of them moving around. Mainly in the last demo shown so far on TV, the one with the expanded gameplay on the Krogan princess rescue.

The animations are good overall, my only two issues are that the squadmates are standing very upright - which isn't something a person in combat would do, you want to present as small are target as possible. Also their let animations seemed a little off, I remember Liara doing some pretty crazy moonwalking - and she was moving to the LEFT.
Then, ironically, it seems like Shepard is VERY hunched over when using the assault rifle. Not too bad, but just looked a little unnatural.
Still going to love the game, of course

The game is still 10 months away from release. I'd imagine they are going to be polishing a lot in that time period.

I think there's still a bit of tweaking to be done, but I'd say BW's about 80-90% there overall... And yes, I suppose squadmate fighting stances need to be a bit more hunched/bladed to look 100% natural. The new climbing/jumping animations could use some touchup as well, but prob. just a bit, as Shep seems to flail a tad more than normal right now.

One improvement I hope they make is that they give the squadmates a better idle animation. Watching your squadmates with those stiff outstretched arms in between battle was just silly.

Theres still too much stiffness in the animations. It needs more work, but thankfully they got lots of time.
