Will I still be able to use voice commands, or do I need to shell out another $150 on a peripheral controller that I won't be using for anything else?

Yes you will need to shell out $150 for the Kinect controller if you want to use the voice features. That is the main reason why MS are infesting so many games with Kinect stuff, to get you to fork out the dosh for the controller.

Wow. You're making it sound like Kinect is a bad thing.

Not my cup of tea and the way Microsoft are cramming Kinect features into nearly every single game I think the term "infesting" is appropriate. Thankfully as a PC gamer it won't affect me, I don't think motion control is bad I think what Microsoft is attempting to do with Kinect is.

They've already said any old XBL mic won't work. You need the Kinect.

Otherwise it becomes a huge waste of time. I bought a Kinect Sensor and found it to be incredibly fun(albeit, exhausting).
But being able to sit on my butt, play ME3, and use my hands to navigate the Galaxy Map is a refreshing change I welcome.
I don't see the issue with that, but hey, differing opinions and all that are exactly that. Different.

I must've missed that part of the demonstration all I saw of Kinect was poor old Jesse yelling at the TV/monitor, but hey if that is your idea of a "refreshing change" I aint gonna knock it. As I said I have zilch interest in Kinect, I used the term "infesting" because from my point of view Microsoft are infesting games that do not require or benefit greatly from Kinect support.

Than why are you complaining?
Kinect is an innovating feature that is fun for the whole family: Teens, and adults can use it for utility purposes & games. While children can also use it for very simplistic gaming. Though I would only recommend it for a whole family, and not one single person.
Also, name 10 games that aren't full Kinect games, but still utilize Kinect features (I can only think of Mass Effect 3, and I think Halo may get kinect support).
