Combat animations usually look a bit odd when you're not the one playing the game

I can see how people are saying the animation are too fast in places. It's good that the reload has been made faster but it's seems to be a little too fast.

Just my opinion:

Forward charge from cover a little too fast:
1:08
1:46
1:23 (cover transition bit stuttery)

My main niggle though is the running animation on the squad member NPCs. Something just seems off about the way they move. I think it's because their legs move faster than the distance they're covering:
1:07
2:14 (more obvious here)

Squaddie animations were HORRIBLE in ME2 and I like the subtle improvements they've made, but I see your point, they still look weird. And it's not just the out-of-sync distance-covering thing - their whole manner of running around is... way too rigid and awkward. Anderson, for instance, looked downright funny at times.

And some animations indeed have bad transitions, and camera systems need tweaking (notice the screw-up right after Shep climbs the ladder) too. But they still have over half a year of development left, I'm sure given issues will be somewhat addressed.

We still have 9 months to go and it's still passable. Don't worry, I'm sure it would be perfected by launch.

Anderson's running animation was unintentionally funny. He looked like he belonged in a cartoon or something. Hopefully the movement looks more like Mass Effect 2 in the final version of ME3.

It could be a way of balancing pistols by giving them ultra-fast reload?

the pistol reload was a little too fast. however the rest seemed much more smooth and much more in control than in Mass Effect 2. it was awesome.

Emptying the heat sink animation was way too fast for my liking.. like 0.5 secs long or so.. looks impossibly fast and is very distracting... also makes me wonder what the point is in having clips / ammo if you make reloading time such a trivial matter... the speed was good in ME2, looked like a natural motion with believable speed... and made reloading have some degree of significance in the game.

This.

Please don't do this BIoware, I think the animations look silky smooth. In fact, the action has never looked better
They want this to be the most cinematic, most epic entry to the Mass Effect series and the animations capture that perfectly

Maybe the fast-reload is an upgrade to the gun?

To add to my previous comment - I think a major factor making the squadmates' movements look awkward is that there is no vertical movement on a squadmate NPC's upper body whilst they're running with a gun drawn. It looks as if their upper bodies are like tank turrets, rotating to face enemies whilst their legs move below them.

This gliding movement can also be seen to a lesser degree on Shepard, but he has some vertical motion in his animation as he jogs which improves it.

Example:
2:00-2:08

Shepard is a cybernetic soldier, so she/he can perform said feats.

I liked the pace in ME2 and I want them to tweak the animations a little bit. Just slow it down to that pace, but anyway, I thought the rolling was really well done and the omni-blade melee attack was badass!

Most was normal, the only fast things I saw were when he reloades and the cover to cover maneuver.

There's 10 months to fix this stuff, so I ain't worrying.

Everything looks unnaturally fast... particularly pistol reloading... like WTF it's so fast it makes clip sizes trivial.

In fact, a lot of it is like Shep decided to go tripping on crack while in battle.
I've got no problem with making things run smoothly, but just turning up the speed doesn't equate to smoothness.

Well he is a cyborg now, just sayin'.

Theres a big diff between cybernetic enhancements and being a cyborg. Shepard has cybernetic enhancements. He is not a cyborg. It wouldn't kill them to kinda slow things down another .5 secs :P

The cover was ok, but the pistol's reload is way to wierd.

The roll seems fast as well.

Shepard was performing feats far too fast and it made things look jerky and artificial, most notibly during the side roll animation, though you can see it when Shepard reloads, too.  Either add in more animations or slow down the ones you have so the game maintains a fluid feel.  I can imagine people who're suseptible to motion sickness becoming fdizzy because of this.

And on the side note, why where there a Vidicator icon when the Mattock was used?

No he wasn't.

I agree completely, seeing some more of the gameplay on BioWare TV; the animations are just too fast, looks really weird, IMO.
At least there's still plenty of time, so I sure hope it'll be fixed in the final version.
