If Vega really does end up acting like 'of Mice and Men' I could learn to like him in a weird way. I'll have at least one character I know I can laugh at.

I don't like how the character looks so far. The human characters in Mass Effect have all had realistic proportions generally, but this guy looks like something lifted straight from Gears of War. He looks like a mad scientist spliced human and Krogan DNA.

I got the Gears of War vibe too. His frame appears almost comically wide.

I had already said this in another thread and I am not the first to have said this aperantly which is good. I have to say that the character looks pretty horrible for a video game character I don't mean to be rude to the guy who designed him but I could do a better job.

I would like to see a better looking character and if need be I will make a new character design because I really like the game for the characters and well the game haha! but seriously please change the character design don't have a bald space marine!

I hardly see why we can't have a character in a video game that's not good looking. Isn't someone's personality supposed to be what's really important?

As long as he's an interesting and well written character I don't really care how he looks like, but I'm really hoping they don't "improve" him too much at least.

well, we got Zaeed already. He's got character , granted, but not exactly pretty. 
and Hackett , Anderson ... 
and i don't know if the aliens are considerend attractive according to their beauty credos. 

besides , he has to be goodlooking with the possibility my Shep might get "lost in vega . " ;p

Heh, as long as he has a captivating voice actor (and isn't Zaeed ) my Shep'll be all over him, good looks or no good looks.

It isn't his mug I'm concerned about.

I'm worried about the unrealistic proportions of his body.  He seems like he was create more in a comic book style like Gears of War, than with realism in mind. But that doesn't really fit with Mass Effect where the human characters generally do look like real people.

Look at his feet. What human has feet that wide? It looks like he got a leg transplant from a Krogan. That, or he's in the wrong game.

I don't think Vega is getting a redesign because of the fan reaction... Unless you have inside knowledge that suggests otherwise?

All we know is that the concept art we already have "isn't final." I don't think anyone said that Vega's going to be completely overhauled... just that the image we have now isn't wholly accurate, because it's from a much earlier state of game development.

While the various redesigns are getting ridiculous, this design really was insulting to those who are Halo, Gears of War, or Call of Duty fans, by making the character look like some Jarhead Jersey Shore fratboy and associating it with people who enjoy shooters and are new to RPGs.  

I know it was not the developers intent but that's how it came across.  

Plus, in Mass Effect, you want to be engaged in the well being of this character and interact with them, and I can't see investing in that character.  Just by looking at him I want to see if his head would survive being jettisoned out of the airlock towards the nearest oncoming asteroid.  

But that's if this is truly a redesign.  It's still early and nothing official has come out of the pipe.
