I doubt he's even a redshirt considering the alternate appearance and the fact that he's there to introduce new players, which just makes his lack of originality that much more glaring.

Still I hope he's not just some generic marine that is clueless of what's happening.

I rather think it refreshing we can get a run of the mill soldier/marine.  Im kinda getting tired of the trying to be unique too cool for school type characters like Jack, Morinth, and Thane

He's white? I thought he'd be black....I seem to only get a 50/50 on these sorts of things I mean I thought the guy of CCR was black until I saw him. Still like the band though, just bummed I was wrong.

Next to Liara in her red Samara-y suit is a caucasian human male in heavy armor. Could this be James Vega formerly James Sanders?

We already had two of those; their names are Kaidan and Jacob. And I found them both to be the least interesting characters in the series.

It's fun to see people rip characters to shreds before the game has came out...actually to tell you the truth I haven't seen many posts like that yet but I'm sure there are people doing that.

Just to let you know when we saw the Character trailer for Mordin and Wrex people also ripped them to shreds and they turned out to be pretty cool characters lol.

I think they can probably pull off making a character that isn't overdone and dramatic like a character from the Naruto anime but still make them really interesting...

Kaiden would have been way better if he had a bit more dialog, personality and opinions ("I am fascinated with ships, I dislike the weak) and he actually had his own side mission.

As for Jacob...well pretty much most of what I said about the personality and dialog. Why do you dislike Thane Jacob? What are your creeds, values and morals? Do you have anything interesting going on or any weird/interesting habits like injecting yourself with painkillers all the time or reading books and being a secret intellectual?

Ah, sorry. I thought you were talking about this one because it has also been called Vega.

As Ryzaki said, that concept is Kai Leng. At least that's popular opinion. It should be obvious it's not Vega, in any case. Concept art doesn't differ that much from the final product, especially the kind of 'polished' concept art they're releasing to the press.
