If you watched the earth demo, he specifically states 'Cerberus are working with the Reapers'.

Sorry to necro the thread but I'm new here. I just picked up ME2 and beat it not long ago. Personally I feel that if you save the base they get indoctrinated it's just that simple, the human/reaper hybrid is still a reaper and Harbinger might still control the base. Now if you destroy it TIM some how contacts the reapers to basically turn all of humanity into reapers they wanted to make human based reapers because of our reproduction so in TIM's eyes humanity would still live on and rule the galaxy remember it's human DNA that makes the new Reaper.

Also when reading one of the PDA's talking about TIM bringing Shepard back to life was not agreed upon and that they would assassinate TIM if Shepard lived for a year post Lazarus project meaning Lazarus was a success. They would kill TIM because he went against them plain and simple.

Remember Cerberus is all about advancing HUMANS to the forefront becoming Reaper's is just another way to do it. Look at what it took to destroy Sovereign of course Cerberus would want that for humanity. Also remember if you die in ME2 TIM has a faint smile. I could be wrong but the plot is there in front of you it may not have been pinned the way I said it but hey.

Didn't you guys watched the Mass Effect Evolution comics? It's says there that his part husk. Because he touch some artifact of the Reapers. I guess they been talking to him for years. But now they finally fully indoctrinated him.

Nice, I never trusted Cerberus in Mass Effect 2, the Illusive Man just didn't seem like he was a guy that just wanted to help, also just from his dialog you could easily tell he had a secret agenda. I luckly pissed him off, by blowing up the Collector Base and telling him to stay the **** out my way.

Since that hasn't happened in Mass Effect 3, I am going to enjoy putting a bullet in his head. Then I will let Wrex eat him

I simply don't believe that indoctrination is the whole of the picture. Also, Mac Walters said in an interview that TIM was not secretly an enemy all along and will still be "very much himself" in ME3. Given that information, I think TIM's pro-human agenda is still very much intact.

All we know is that Cerberus is against Shepard in ME3. That does not necessarily mean they're allied with the Reapers. TIM might have come to the realization that the Reapers may have something to offer humanity but he's going to want it on his own terms. Furthering the Reapers' agenda of harvesting the organics of the galaxy, I cannot imagine TIM doing that - because that would include humans. I also think he's intelligent enough to see that Saren's arguments are flawed.

As far as I can see, the mystery remains of why Cerberus is against Shepard.

@Grim Intent:
That would be a new level of "pooping on Renegades", really. I have my doubts. We shall see.

Yeah Cerberus all of suddenly working with the Reapers something that TIM has spent the past 30 years trying to destroy makes no kind of sense and I read the comics. I'm not a fan of Cerberus but just the make them foot soldiers for the Reapers because your writers did not have enough foresight to see that destroying the ENTIRE Collector race was not the best idea long term for the plot.

Yeah.

Okay, they have NOT said that Cerberus is working FOR the Reapers. Just that both Cerberus and the Reapers are Shepard's enemies in ME3. There are plenty of theories about indoctrination and such, Shepard even says, "They're indoctrinated!" in gameplay footage. But, we don't know that for sure. Could be TIM just wants the Reapers to destroy the other races before double-crossing them. Remember, Cerberus is about Human Superiority versus ALL races, Reapers included. TIM is def a bad guy with no morale compass... it's not shocking Shepard and he wouldn't get along. This doesn't invalidate what happened in ME2, and it doesn't mean that the story in ME3 is by default, dumb, confusing or a bad plot device. We don't know WHY they are the enemies of Shepard, and while speculating is a good idea, it's way too early to get bummed out by something you aren't sure is gonna happen.

Why are people complaining that this is a spoiler? If Cerberus is going to be a significant enemy then they have to show them in gameplay demos, otherwise it'd just be husks. We've already asked them not to show off much story stuff so the only thing they can show off is combat footage, and in order to show that they have to show who you'll be fighting. Just showing videos of husks doesn't convey the variety of enemies in the game.

If Bioware said WHY Cerberus was working with the Reapers then that would be a major spoiler, but we've been told we won't know until the game ships.

finally someone gets the point. i agree with this

if Cerberus is working with the Reapers what was the damn point of ME2 and Project Lazarus? TIM could've just let Shepard's body be taken by the Collectors from the Shadow Broker.. he wouldn't have spent billions of credits to bring him back, because the Collectors were working for his Masters anyway and could be considered allies.
I sure hope there's more to this... there's got to be, because it makes no sense

if you know why they working with the reapers please tell me?.....wait don't tell because that will be  a spoiler

I also don't think that Casey was being rigorous there, perhaps slipping a little white lie to us?

I made a theory not long ago that Cerberus army was actually TIM's idea to battle the reapers, to create a better more efficient army than the fragmented and dispersed Alliance (where only Hackett and Anderson seem to understand the importance of the reapers), and to use everything at his disposal to destroy the Reapers and place mankind above everyone else in the galaxy.

This in turn ran counter to Shep's idea of rallying every race in the galaxy and solving their daddy issues (which would make them stronger against mankind once the Reapers were out of the picture). So TIM wants Shep dead and is running against him in getting the tools that we will undoubtedly uncover throughout ME3 to fight the reapers.

We would then face him and have the possibility of either agree with his methods (and let him do his thing) or not. The turning point would be TIM overdoing it and start playing god, he would be transforming Cerberus into a Reaper themselves (at least metaphorically, or symbolically). TIM turns into what he is fighting against (due to his obsession) and needs to be defeated.

This could be more interesting. We also saw back in ME2 how Casey blatantly lied to us and told us how Legion was a badass enemy we would encounter in the game.

I doubt TIM truly is working with the Reapers, or is indoctrinated. Seems...lazy. Instead, he knows the exact reason why the Reapers are interested in Shepard, and wants you eliminated for being a possible threat or whatnot.

I just don't buy TIM being evil, even with that ridiculous look he has in the new comic.

"If" this is true - and it seems like it is, but none of us have the game yet...

Renegade Shepard will save TIM and Cerberus (or take Cerberus for himself) - and a cure for indoctrination will be found.

Paragon Shepard will destroy TIM and Cerberus - and a cure for indoctrination will be found.

I imagine it's just a plot reason to involve Cerberus - otherwise, why bother? It's just one secret organization in a battle for whole planets, solar systems, galaxies.
