Basics are from ME2,but it has obviously been improved and new abilities are added. I think it will be much better than ME2.

Too many lies from Bioware since they sold their soul to the EA devil to believe you.  Looks like it plays just like ME2 with an added melee attack to me.

did I insult your favourite console games? sorry

With notable exceptions (the battlefield franchise promotes teamwork), these shooters are terribly easy and boring to play. You can go hours and hours on twtich reflexes, shooting people in a children infested room.

Absolutely nothing gained. Stupid hitscan bullets render sniping extremely easy. Just raging children crying about their k/d all game. Absolutely terrible, Call of Duty and Halo are fit for "girl gamers" and casuals

Why change near-perfection? Mass Effect 2's combat was intense and fun, with greater emphasis on weapon and power use decisions. Really, the additions and control adjustments they're making are more than enough. Change for the better, instead of change for the sake of changing.

Just from the videos so far I've noticed:
  • Rolling
  • Reworked cover
  • Tactical movment between cover
  • Stealth kills
  • Improved CQC

I'd rather have similar gameplay mechanics than a complete reinvention of the wheel.

The game's not even done yet. A lot can change in nine months, you know.

Seriously, after about 3 minutes of footage? I think people are jumping to conclusions somewhat.

Actually it's getting closer to twenty minutes of footage. Of an unfinished game nine months away from release.

@Paul Sedgmore: I wouldn't bother if I were you; these people aren't gonna be happy unless they're busy complaining about nothing.

Give them evidence that they're wrong, they'll just ignore it and keep on complaining about the "EA Devil".

The game looks amazing, and I'm looking forward to experiencing both the improved combat ( featuring massive battlefields, ladders, stealth kills, vastly improved enemy and squad mate A.I., class-specific melee attacks and vehicular combat) and enhanced RPG elements (including far more customisable skill trees, modifiable weapons and dramatic, dynamic conversations) in March.

Did you watch the same game I did. The gameplay is way improved. Aiming in cover looks like it doesn't have the issues on the edge of the cover anymore. The roll and stealth kills look great. I can't wait to see what the Infiltrator can pull off.

They're not really showing systems yet. Combat looks similar to Mass Effect 2, which in my opinion is good.

I really enjoyed the actual combat of ME2, I just wanted a few more abilities per class, more weapon and armor customization options, and more powers that complimented in-your-face gameplay (vs. hide behind boxes gameplay).

Since they're not showing the inventory system or customization options (yet), and any new melee attack implies more in-your-face gameplay, I'm pretty damned happy.

ME2 was a fine game, and it seems that the actual combat system is getting nothing but better.
The fight in the vid had a very epic feel. I can't wait for ME3!

Remember how DA2 didn't play anything like the first?

How did that work out for you?

Little things matter to me. At first I wandered what DICE could bring to ME3's combat. That little bit of combat shown, the meatier sounding guns, recoil, really did make a big difference to me. I can't wait to see what else is under the hood that we can't get the feel for by just watching a combat vid.

When you get your hands on it, you'll know. Videos (and the short demo materials we've shown so far) don't do it justice (even though they are awesome!).

Dont take me wrong i´ve never been so hyped for a game in my life until i saw this but couldnt they just --- add more new gameplay features? i swear teh demo could have been a DLC for ME2 except for the new melee system
your thoughts?

You mean a sequel with JUST improved graphics, smoother gameplay, and a new story?! CURSE YOU BIOWARE! We should mutiny this game :bandit:

I love the part where the camera zooms in and turns around to shep's back, then the player regains control of shep. I love camera operations like that.

They had it alot in metal gear 4.

Makes the game much more fluid and cinematic

Well, the Mattock sounded almost the exact same, but the Predator and Locust seem to have been revamped in a good way.

Bioware have been pretty open about the fact that ME3 would be using the ME2 tech as a base so I'm not sure why people were expecting a more substantial change.
