I only hope that this changes in Ashley will lead to opposite changes in Miranda (heavy armour, slightly brushed hair), so I'll have squad with proper outfits. Of course, if Miranda will be in game :-P
Not if she died in ME2. Just put her as a tech expert during the Suicide Mission, and she'll probably drop like a sack of bricks.
No woman left alive playthrough, here I come!

I am more than prepared to kill Ashley to preserve her image.
Yeah...it gets that serious.
Hmm so after Horizon my male Shepard is left with:
1) Kaidan finally discovers he's actually been hiding in the closet.
2) Ashley loses all self-confidence after being rejected by Shepard and begins a modeling career.
I wish had known what I was doing on Virmire.

Game won't sell if there is no catsuits, will it? Oh wait ... it will.

Although I'm hopeful that the outift shown is just her casual onboard attire.

And in that respect I like it : ) she looks very pretty.
Ashley's pink and white armor is practically her trademark, like Garrus'. I'm pretty sure she'll get to wear it again : )
If, however, Ashley, a self proclaimed independent woman and soldier to the core, does indeed fight with hair in her eyes and latex suit with high heels no less.... no, no Bioware wouldn't. They just wouldn't.

Mass Effect 1 was awesome. For a rare occasion, I got to play a game as a women where my other female companions were dressed in ways that made sense given the situation. I loved it, I enjoyed it. I had a game I could show my female friends interested in gaming that there was more to it than testosterone and overly sexual characters.
Then came Mass Effect 2. Miranda, Jack, and Samara were different. Given the situations the three characters were generally in, their clothes to me didn't make sense to me. Miranda I could handle, her background made it make some sense, but not so much Jack or Samara. Jack frankly made me a bit uncomfortable playing, and having to wait until doing her loyalty mission just to get clothing to cover her a little better was not enjoyable for me. She largely ruined my attempts to get my friends to want to play the game.
And now it seems the one female squadmate known for wearing armor and protests the silliness of light tighter armor could be going down that same route despite showing up in full armor in Mass Effect 2. It really bothers me. It isn't practical, it makes zero sense with her character and personality. I'm a woman and I can tell you it's not practical in the slightest, and if Earth was being attacked I'd be sure to go put on something that would actually protect me and that I could function in rather than look hot in. Heels of any height are super impractical for combat, you want your foot flat; otherwise, your center of balance shifts, and there's a higher chance of twisting your ankle. Frankly I'll be highly considering going back and playing the game and leaving Ashley to die just given I'd rather not see that done to what was a strong female character that wasn't overly sexualized. Changing a character who quite clearly focuses on practicality and is a professional solider to another Miranda sends a bad message as well.
In short I want old Ash back, and am highly disappointed that Bioware's butchering a character just for the age old 'sex sells'. T_T

People are raging and claiming people that like Ashley's new look are sexists who think women are only meant to be looked at and sexed up. They're saying she's been retconned and her character destroyed.
They're judging her character on how she looks. She can't possibly be strongwilled, independant and tough as nails because she let her hair down and is wearing a different outfit. Who's being sexist, really?
Ashley can dress however the hell she wants. We have no idea what kind of ops she's been doing as of late, perhaps she's been doing less stuff that would have heavy armor as an optimal choice? We don't know, and we won't know for quite some time. Chillax, people. Do we even know that 'soldier' is her class anymore? She's a spectre now, time has passed. She may have focused her training elsewhere to better fit what she is doing now.

Not only that but they're making blanket statements about how her character will be in a game they haven't played yet. This "community" is off the scale insane. My face hurts from all the face-palming I do whenever I come on here.
I wish these people would get together and make a game so we can all experience how pants-crapppingly awful it'd be.

You can’t shoot with your hair getting in your eyes. I invite everyone who doubt it to try.

Considering that this is most likely an impromptu rescue attempt by the squad on the Normandy of Shepard and Anderson as shown by the photo of Ashley (and trailer), I find it quite possible that in the circumstances, some on board may have been taken by surprise by the s.o.s. and in the rush to get to them, (moments after Anderson sends out the message as shown in the gameplay trailer), they could not change out of their "casual clothes" because there is no time to do so.

No no no. There will be no logic here. You just take the logic on down the road. Bioware sucks.

If she will get a normal armour after the first mission, I have nothing against it.
