If they released the same footage but with the other VS we would have a definite answer on the casual or her real armour debate but out of curiosity, I'm going to check out the new info later, how much has Kaiden been featured compared to Ashley?

She is beautiful, but it seems out-of-character, if that is going to be her look from now on, at least to me.

Kaiden was featured in the article in Game Informer and I've seen a fair share of him. I've seen more Ashley coverage though, which is not surprising as she has been one of the original front-runners of the series, along with Garrus of course.Ser Bard wrote...

EDIT: You guys do the character of Ashley a disservice by equating her personality to what she wears however. Is Ashley a badass because she likes big guns and big armor or is she a badass because of who she is?
You seem to argue its only the clothes and the rifle.
Because her appearance is an expression of her personality.
Ashley is a blunt, pragmatic, strong woman. A marine to the core. She's attractive, but isn't self conscious about it like Miranda. She doesn't makes a statement with her looks like Jack. She is what she is, and she likes it that way. And she likes thick armor and big guns, because they're the tools of her trade. That was her "look". It's what makes her unique.
Now for some inexplicible reason, Bioware has decided to dress her up in half-armor, half-spandex. And long, wind-blown hair. Now she's not unique. Now she looks like any other sci-fi hottie. Even if her personality remains unchanged, this new look is totally different from how she carried herself before. It's closer to the look she'd mock. And so far, there is no word as to the logic behind it. Particularly since the pics we've seen of Kaidan's new look are exactly what Ash should have.
Next we'll have Jack in a business suit and watching her language.

I typed a search into google. How accurate those boots are I don't know, but if they are Canadian military boots the heel of said boots are in no way similar to the heels of Ashely's boots in the reference picture.

Spot on and soldiers do helluva lot of more than just run.
You
want shoes that give you maximum stability and work in many kind of
environments and you aren't the one who can always decide where the
battle is going to happen. Even in a city, fallen bricks, shattered
glass on pavements, all kind of rubble and depbris can be under your
feets. You don't want shoes with heels, or wegdes or whatever they are
called. You want something that protects your feet and ankles.
And those been few pics how Ashleys shoes looks like runnings shoes. To be honest, I don't see that either.

work boots) winter combat boots (large work boots insulated). And
combat shoes, which low and behold look alot like what ash is wearing,
except they are green. So stop assuming you guys know everything about
everything. The game isnt released, they arent high heels, it aint a
catsuit.
Military footwear tends to be very similar around the globe. It tends to be very pragmatic. Guess why.
Post I quoted belove as proof.
Did you and your frind in Canadian military also somehow invented time machine btw? Just thought that genius mind like you might have performed a stunt like taught his/her own father to f*ck. Shees, what a shining result you got...

Nono those are accurate boots, the army also has all purpose combat shoes like these shown in this search which the heel is quite similar in some of these images

No, your comparison sucks, as does your attention to the detail that is called Ashleys character which is rather important in the context of this discussion.
Again I'll ask:

You seem to think it's what she's wearing and not who she is.
Why is it I always get the "straw man" response when I drop logic...
No, we go by what the character has been shown in the past to care about, talk about and emote about. One of my Sheps romanced her in ME1, and the Ash in ME1 wouldn't be caught dead after a combat scenario looking like the ash in ME3 trailer outside some very specific causes. Causes which aren't given, nor admitted to. This is Ashs' 'new look', and it doesn't fit the character as she was described in previous instalments of the franchise.

To judge someone by the way they look is wrong, but people do it all the time. Regardless, Ashley's look is all we have to go by to try and gauge where they're taking her character. If you can't see that then there's nothing else I can say that will convince you that we're not looking at her the same way other lecherous types are.aftohsix wrote...

Ashley's creator left Bioware. That has already put her character at risk. What we see now has made a lot of fans nervous because I can't imagine L'Etoile being in any way happy about it. As to your question (though I think I answered it already), she's a badass because of who she is. At the same time who she is isn't reflected in her look there. The hair would be bound by something at least.

For the most part I agree with that statement.
Since all we've seen has been her picture at a random spot in the game as a image file, along with how she looks on the Normandy after Shepard's really SHORT TRIAL! I'm gonna go with, that's her non combatant uniform. Just a guess though, if anyone dislikes this, I'll be happy to prove to people that you don't wear your military armor to court.

Ashley sure sparked some controversy back in the ME1 days. But IMO she was very well written, intresting character with depth.
Something I have been wondering is that despite how tough soldier type she is, she is also a human and a woman. My Shepard never romanced her, but I could buy her character pondering things, missing things like romance. I mean romance in a sense that doesn't mean just shagging after one shared supper, but also emotional bonds. We know she can feel jealous like anybody and perhaps she could wonder, if she is woman enogh, after all that she has given to her military career, enough to someone she feels like sharing a lot of things.
I can imagine her exploring those things, but there are also things I don't think she would compromise because of that. I think she would try to figure out something else instead.
It remains to be seen what BioWare writers are up to, but I'm bit worried. Won't ruin the game for me but still...

No matter how much she explored those feelings, Ashley would never compromise her marine heritage, especially not in combat.
