I think quite a few people mentioned it when LoTSB came out. :P

It's getting painfully obvious that Bioware is going the fanservice route with all the female characters with things like Miranda and Samara's outfits and Jack running out in the battlefield with only a bra on. With them you could at least argue "it's part of their character!" The same doesn't apply to Ash, she even specifically makes fun of girls who get dolled up like that. Now, I'm not against Ash letting ehr hair down or wearing makeup, I just think it's stupid that she too is going into the battlefield with catsuit, heels, and her hair down. She's a friggin soldier, so have her dress like one during missions.

I have a sneaking suspicion this is the reason why Bioware is release an Alternate Appearance Pack as part of the Collectors edition. Ashley is probably going to have proper armor as DLC just like Miranda did.

I think Ashley's new looks good, she deserves to be comfortable I bet that armor had always made her feel uncomfortable. A tough chick like that chick deserves to feel sexy in my opinion. Plus she saw me with Miranda on Horizon, she must've felt jealous at the thought of Miranda taking me away from her. It's either the vixen or her which was the drill Sargent, she naturally felt threaten by her rival, Miranda and decided to adapt to gain me back.

Actually there will be a Day 1 Alternate Appearance Pack DLC. You gotta buy the Collector's Edition to get it.

gimmie a break, they're talking about an all out war and you worried about getting some rash due to heavy armor...

I have the same feeling. Especially with females. Where's Kaidan's increased bulge size?

I think your priorities are mixed up if your worried about feeling sexy in the middle of a gun fight.

Ashley is as much a tool as as Liara is a vengeful, cold-hearted killer...wait a second...

Great to see Ashley. I kill off Kaiden every time, so I'm happy to see her around. Have never romanced her, but I guess I'll do that my next MaleShep playthrough.

Hell, she should have been in Cerberus in ME2, given her anti-alien rants in ME1, but I digress. :)

She has her priorities seriously mixed up if she wants to feel sexy in battle. That would be the last thing on my mind. She feels threatened by Miranda so dolls herself up to get maleshep? What a brilliant turn of her character that would be. <_<

I really couldn't read through 37 pages of "Ashley's hot now", "No, she was hotter before" and "she shouldn't be hot - she's a soldier" or "soldiers can be sexy too". What I wanna know is did anyone notice that Ash's gauntlet has the SPECTRE logo on it...?

Well guys, it's not a big deal.

ME effect has always been full of stereotypes; Even ME1 and ME2 Ash armors, the white and pink one, where a little cheesy. Like saying " look that's a typical female armor becaus it's PINK "
+ catsuits + sexy blue aliens ....

This time is a little too much, that's all. It wont kill the character though.

Yes but I've known the VS was a spectre since the picture of Kaidan came out.

I'm a little confused about why people try to justify sex appeal gear for combat.

If characters are wearing catsuits in the middle of combat/space I can understand some of the complaints about breaks in immersion and pointless fanservice.
If characters wear practical attire in combat, is everyone really going to start complaining that there aren't women in skin-tight outfits running around in the middle of the firefight? How many fans aren't going to pick up the game simply because Ash's style stayed in character?

I guess more armor customization for squaddies could make this a quicker fix, but can't say how much they're going to give us beyond pallet swaps at this point.

Wasn't it already stated that you can customize companion attire? I thought I read that. Not sure how much but there's a pretty good chance that Ash will have some armor to wear should the player want to put it on her...kinda like Miranda's alternarte DLC armor.

As to her look, I think Ash looks fantastic! It's nice to see that the character has been changed a little bit instead of being an exact duplicate from ME and ME2.

Too bad it doesn't really make a lot of sense. Developing the character in a way that makes sense = great, giving a soldier type skimpy, exposing pseudo-armor and hair that folds over her face? Not so great, even though people don't really seem to care about character consistency in the series anymore... Ashley's getup completely contradicts the functional look of Spectre and military-oriented characters' armor.

And I'm sorry a lot of us don't feel like waiting a year before we can change Ashley into something more befitting of her personality. It's just freaking annoying that there were so many criticisms about the unrealistic squad armor after ME2 came out, and now it's just like Bioware's totally ignoring that.

What the heck would be wrong with sexy casual/functional combat, I wonder? Not a whole lot. It seems like such a simple fix; one extra character outfit each, to be switched out for when they're on the Normandy. It's a mindf*** to think that Bioware's still decided to go with the weird contradictions to the game's portrayal of our future reality, when so many people were against it in ME2.
"These characters are in a warzone; they should look the part!"
"Mmmmm... well, ME3 will have more squad customization."
"Will we be able to put characters in reasonable-looking armor?"
"Mmmmm... squad customization."

*shows ME3's AAP*

"What the heck?"
"Mmmmmm... squad customization."

:pinched:

But is it

Customize:  Add mods?
Customize:  Recolor/reskin?
Customize: Swap out armor pieces?
Customize:  Replace armor with something else?

We have no idea.  Bioware's recent history makes it unlikely it will be more than the first one or two at best.

Yeah, it's great for hanging out in the rec room of the Normandy, or a mall run on the Citadel.  But the Ash on ME 1

That's not "a little" A little is means a different style of armor.  A new color scheme.  Adding a Spectre logo.  That sort of thing..  What she's wearing barely qualifies as armor at all.

It may look "fantastic" to you,  To me, it may look great on Miranda, but it's not "Ash-fantastic".

An idea:

Maybe Ashley is wearing the Catsuit because she just happened to be at a party when the reapers hit.

Thoughts?

I would point out that Shepard wasn't wearing armor either in that scene. He and Anderson are in some sort of alliance uniform it looked like. The invasion is just happening so maybe no one has even had time to "suit up" yet.

Alas, that wont stop people from jumping to conclusions based on barely 2 seconds of footage of ASh and crying like little kids who haven't gotten their way fast enough. It's *facedesk* worthy at times on these forums but entertaining. I need to go make some more popcorn.

If nobody had time to suit up, what is that Marine doing in full armor next to Ash? He had time to put on some armor.
I think the new outfit they shown looks ridiculous. Not the same tipe of catsuit that Miranda has, but still it's a catsuit, and she can't even see because her hair covers half of her face.

Or, full armor could of been his normal attire.

Assumptions are fun.
