I have the same feeling. Especially with females. Where's Kaidan's increased bulge size?

Huh? I thought Kaidan fans would want him to lose the bulge, considering the crap he takes for being an "Elvis" impersonatorZombieGeisha wrote...

I would point out that Shepard wasn't wearing armor either in that scene. He and Anderson are in some sort of alliance uniform it looked like. The invasion is just happening so maybe no one has even had time to "suit up" yet.
Alas, that wont stop people from jumping to conclusions based on barely 2 seconds of footage of ASh and crying like little kids who haven't gotten their way fast enough. It's *facedesk* worthy at times on these forums but entertaining. I need to go make some more popcorn.

And like some people already pointed out: Vega, the guy right next to Ash, obviously had time to get into his full Alliance marine armor.

That's not Vega, clearly it is Jenkins.

I'm a little confused about why people try to justify sex appeal gear for combat.
If characters are wearing catsuits in the middle of combat/space I can understand some of the complaints about breaks in immersion and pointless fanservice.
If characters wear practical attire in combat, is everyone really going to start complaining that there aren't women in skin-tight outfits running around in the middle of the firefight? How many fans aren't going to pick up the game simply because Ash's style stayed in character?

This.
The lengths people will go to just to have an argument really amaze me sometimes.
Some people don't like the way Ash looks in the trailer, and they're entitled to that opinion. It'd be great if other people could just disagree with that opinion without coming up with a whole bunch of assumptions that "prove" the opinion "wrong".
Fact: Ash looks different.
The rest of this thread is bullsh!t.

It couldn't be they were trying to hide Vega's face under a helmet for a reveal at a latter date.
It was to prove Ashley wears her outfit at all times

Well, Jacob and Thane wear rather light, form-fitting outfits.
I may be alone in this, but I found Jacob's and Thane's outfits to be just as ridiculous as Miranda's and Jack's. I guess the eye candy thing does go both ways. To me the take-home message for Bioware is that clothing and armor should be believable no matter the gender of the wearer.

In all seriousness, if we could create materials that were as thin and flexible as spandex but offered the same protective properties as ceramic plates, we'd use them. There is no reason to take on extra weight if you don't need it.

The issue is that Ashley's hair and what she was wearing seem very self-conscious and very un-professional for a soldier.
In me1 Ashley was all about being a soldier to the core and being emotionally independent and secure in herself etc etc
-> contradiction in character -> scary for fans of Ashley from me1

I don't see why she can't dress like this and be emotionally independant and secure in herself. Miranda, for instance, has her insecurities, but they're not why she's dressed like that. And Ashley's new outfit isn't even as bad as Miranda's was.Em23 wrote...

It could just be her civilian garb. I'd worry more if her suit was worn in combat for anything other than the escape for Earth where it is supposed to be a mad dash to escape.Em23 wrote...
