Thing is about Ash and Liara is that Ash was a bit jealous. Gotta admit that she's fiery(especially in the bedroom, hahaha).

She saw Liara as trying to romance Shepard, which Liara was, and therefore saw her as competition.

But she wasn't totally against her. When Liara lost her mom on Noveria, Ash even suggests you talk to her to make her feel better.

Since when was Ashley ever mad that she was working with aliens? I don't remember that.

When she talked about it in ME1. She was like I dont like these aliens on the ship. I know your commander, and I will follow your orders but let me say that I dont like it.

Ashley is just anxious to see the most sophisticated military spacecraft spied on by aliens. Do you think a U.S. Marine  would be happy to see a Chinese guest unofficial manner on an aircraft carrier secret ?

Of course not. She never said she didn't want to work with aliens.

It's patriotism, not racism. And I remember you that humanity has no allies in M1. ;)

Co-developed by the Turians. Found Ashley´s apprhensions funny.

It's racism.  Humans are a race.  Turians are a race.  Salarians are a race.  Asari are a race.  Krogan are a race.  Vorcha are a race.  Elcor are a race.  Batarians are a race.  Hanar are a race.  Drell are a race.  That Magog-looking Shadow Broker is a race.

Regardless of whether you're black, brown, yellow, red, or white if a Batarian wanted to take you out you're human first.  Period.  Color and/or ethnicity are a distant second.

Race refers to secondary classifications within a species not different species. Chimpanzee is not a race and neither is Turian.

Words and meaning can change over time. The word "gay" which seems to be thrown around a lot nowadays with s/s romance being implemented originally meant "happy/excited" or something to that effect.

Are you saying you don't acknowledge the sentient, sapient Turian/Asari/Salarian as a race?

Racist!! :P

I haven't found the page on the old boards, but he did make a post about it elsewhere. He has a moniker by name of Stormwaltz. He's present at times on TheEscapistMagazine as well.

It's the third spoiler:
http://forums.penny-...447#post3655447

The post that led me to the above:
http://social.biowar...607/194#5365719

Just to shore up everything else a third time, a quote on gamefaqs with someone saying they don't care what the writer said. The poster quoting mentions that it was supposed to be said around keepers. If I can find that post by L'Etoile I'll link it.

Ah well, I play as a femshep, and I will agree, ash was like a sister, somewhat, more of that military sister then anything else, but I still feel she had  a bit of hate which I (maybe miscostrued) as a bit of xenophobia. And then she got mad at my Liara, and called me a traitor, so I found another military sister with Jack. Cause shes awesome.

Ashley is like all the women I have known when she is jealous. :)
It's not a question of racism, but jealousy and so malice.

Besides Shepard also was insulted when she claims he goes to Liara because he can not flirt with real women in the Alliance. XD

"I am only 106 years old."

"Damn, I hope I look that good when I'm your age!"

She already admitted to Liara being beautiful. And Liara's obviously smart and can hold her own in combat. Plus she's vital to the mission.

What other arguments could Ashley use to get horny ol' Male!Shep off Liara's trail?

Not racist, a little petty though.

There are different races of Turians within their species.

Racist!! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

It's a scientificay proven "fact" that Turians brains are at least 25% smaller than that of the white man.

Ashley knows nothing about the project ( so the Turians in the project ) . It was a secret project. I remind you that she arrived unexpectedly on the ship after Eden Prime.  The ship is presented as the wonder of humanity by all humans, official or not. She knows nothing either of Aliens.

I find it interesting that so many people have stereotyped her as "the racist." At a couple of points she blasts the Terra Firma party as being "bigots," and she openly admires the power of the Destiny Ascension in the Citadel approach cutscene - not quite what you'd expect from a xenophobe.

In her first conversation she spells out her thinking pretty explicitly (the bear and dog metaphor), and it's nothing more than a short paraphrase of the most memorable passage in Charles Pelligrino and George Zebrowski's novel "The Killing Star":

quote:When we put our heads together and tried to list everything we could say with certainty about other civilizations, without having actually met them, all that we knew boiled down to three simple laws of alien behavior:

1. THEIR SURVIVAL WILL BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR SURVIVAL.
If an alien species has to choose between them and us, they won't choose us. It is difficult to imagine a contrary case; species don't survive by being self-sacrificing.

2. WIMPS DON'T BECOME TOP DOGS.
No species makes it to the top by being passive. The species in charge of any given planet will be highly intelligent, alert, aggressive, and ruthless when necessary.

3. THEY WILL ASSUME THAT THE FIRST TWO LAWS APPLY TO US.And it's hard to dispute this. At the least, you could say the krogan live by these rules. It's certainly a more suspicious and pessimistic point of view than most of us are comfortable with. But is it racism, or realism?

Anyway. I fully expected some people write her off as a bigot. What surprises me is that no one's pointed out that her position does have some sense. Evidently, I did something very wrong here.

To answer a question from... I don't know, tens of pages ago, if you romance her and have persuade, you can convince her to be a bit less extreme in her opinions.

This is from that other forum he posted on, not the one we're looking for, but its still relevant.

LOL, no. Its that there's regulations against being in a romance with someone you're working with. Since Liara's not part of the Alliance, there's no regs against that. But with Ash, there's issues.

She explains that to her little sister when you read the email she sent to her back when she was on duty elsewhere.

I came to the conclusion that Kaidan can ultimately be more racist than Ashley is. Ashley has her concerns about aliens and rightfully so due to them being on an Alliance warship. One conversation is all you need to get her to respect your opinion. Another conversation will allow Ashley to lose her bias against aliens. Prince said it best about Ashley and how to get her on side.

One conversation with Kaidan and he's ready to take up arms against the Council. I could run up another issue or two about what one line Kaidan said here or there but I won't.

I do like Ashley's new look, and I absolutely refuse to judge a game NINE MONTHS before it is released.

Seriously, I don't know how people have to think she was racist. I'm black, I've never thought of. What she told  to me always seemed to be of realism and pragmatism. And her way of thinking in a difficult geopolitical context is entirely consistent with mine.

2157: First War Contact

2170: Mindoir destroyed

2176 Batarian Blitz on elysium

2178 Torfan

2183: Eden Prime attacked by Geth and Saren.

How can we not be cautious for Humanity in this context ?

i find it kinda crazy how upset everyone is over this.

i mean in ME1 all the suits were super tight formfitting suits. i dont see much of a difference other than they make her chest more prominent.

i like her new look, i hated her stupid hair bun in ME1. nerd raging that her hair might get in her face is a bit insane to me.

In my opinion shepard will make it even more suspicious or less to the aliens as in M1. Because it seems that there will be a bar Renegade / paragon for Npc

Inorite? That's like judging how a person will turn out from a zygote.

Actually, I think that's actually possible in the Mass Effect universe, so...

Perhaps many people would like to see the world idealistically, and any sort of negative traits become a fatal flaw?

On the topic of her suit, I like it. How her top cuts off to her leggings... they seem very familiar. Anyone seen that type of clothing before, in some other media?

Pressly wasn't like that all the way through ME1. You need to find his journal in the Normandy Crash Site DLC in ME2.
