Disk: Ashely is a soldier. God knows
what exactly Jacob was supposed to be in terms of class, but I think at
least a soldier, which is to say, the most heavily armed and armored
class in the game should get some decent armor. It's especially bad
considering Kaiden gets actual armor, and makes me wonder
(sarcastically) whether BioWare mixed up their classes in between
games.
Jacob was an Alliance Corsair, he's a more accomplished soldier than Ashley.
You realize that the class system is not actually a thing that's acknowledged in the ME universe, right? It's only a UI thing for building your character. It's not a matter of "Oh Jacob you're a sentinel, you don't wear heavy armor."
It is actually. I imagined you'd start calling CANON VIOLATION if, for example, Garrus, or Mordin suddenly started using biotics out of the blue. On the same hand, I imagine we'd also be scratching our heads if Grunt suddenly started hacking through doors and using cloaking fields without some explanation for how he learned that stuff.
Jacob was, in terms of ME classes, probably closest to a Vanguard. He really should have had heavier armor, considering his weapon loadout made him geared towards close range combat. On the same token, the soldier class, and presumably Ashely unless we've gotten some retcons has abilities focused on soaking up damage, and has a new one in ME3. It would make sense that the people who soak up damage and have high health would be the ones in heavy armor. While sentinels are the least squishy class in the game as of ME2, soldiers are hardly slouches, and I'd at least expect Ashely to get something more in line with medium armor.
Diskeh: Did I not just say I wasn't asking for uberscale spess merhens? Plus, at least Vega's wearing armor. So far, it looks like absolutely none of the female characters can say the same thing. That's a problem that existed in ME2 as well. How's that not sexism?
