I know this is going to disappoint some people, but when I watched the Gamespot Casey Hudson interview in full screen today, I looked at Ashley's armor.  It doesn't look like a catsuit to me.  It looks like armor, just... perhaps more form-fitting armor.  I don't think people would make as big of a (negative) deal about her appearance if Bioware just added a black cloth undershirt to cover the exposed skin on her neck, like the armors in Mass Effect 1.

I still love her hair, though.  Don't change that!

Also, again, my "put medium-to-heavy armor on everybody" suggestion still stands.

Edit: Oops.  Never mind.  I saw the magazine scan on the previous page just now.  I had seen it before, but never that close up.  Definitely leather, not armor.  Unfortunately, and much to the dissapointment of people who like to feel immersed in the in-game universe, BioWare seems to love the following trope.

Well that's good news.  I'd still prefer that she got heavier armor than Kaiden though.  Considering he was a squishy wizard character in the first game and presumably in the second game, and she was the "tank" class in the first game.

They know it's not a catsuit, they just use the word because they think it adds weight to their argument. It's a false dichotomy; either she's dressed exactly how they want, or she's a stripper in a catsuit. They feel they have to debase her because she doesn't do what they want, it's classic sexism.

It doesn’t look like a catsuit because it isn’t one. “catsuit” is just another hyperbole term wielded like a hammer to drive home a point. She has hardly any exposed skin. Her cleavage is very modest. Conservative even. The outfit isn’t even skin tight, it’s form fitting. There is a difference.

What I wish is to have three armor types to choose from. Light, medium and heavy. It would satisfy everyone. Personally, I hate heavy armor. I hated the armor in Mass effect 2. Cluncky and too bulky for my taste. I miss light armor.

I think she looked more elegant and beautiful before, the new hair doesn't complement her face as well as the bun.
The catsuit is something I can't see her using but people can change? Oh well, I'll wait and see..

Yeah, all they'd have to do is
1) take Kaidan's armor and alter it slightly to fit a female form
2) replace Miranda's Ash's armored jumpsuit with it
3) Profit!

I mean, Liara looks more heavily armored than Ash. Why?

I have been clamouring for Ash with her hair down for a long time and couldn't be happier with the look. Although I may start to miss the Millitary bun in the upcoming months.

4. Or just include armor instead of throwing the other away
5. Profit! On both sides.

Good thing I'm not a sexist then, because I always compared Jacob's outfit to a comic book superhero's ;)

It's closer to "catsuit" than "armor" though.
False statement is saying " either she's dressed exactly how they want, or she's a stripper in a catsuit ".
As long as party member customization won't be, at least people want to see something coherent and not fan-serv. It's quite the opposite.

Not sexism, just stupidity.

Intolerance and supersition has always been the domain of the more stupid amongst the common folk and, I conjecture, will never be uprooted, for they are as eternal as stupidity itself. There, where mountains tower today, one day there will be seas; there where today seas surge, will one day be deserts. But stupidity will always remain eternal.

Switch out sexism for anything you want, that argument is still a Straw Man as I understand it.  Even if you're correct about our alleged stupidity, that's very likely an Ad Hominem.

So if  you please, use actual arguments not relating to the people involved in a debate, if you insist on getting involved in this discussion.

So, I am being asked to not play ME3 because I complain about something.
I am supposed to shut up because Bioware designers have the supreme freedom of doing what they want without someone saying if it's ****.
I am called "stupid", but who's the intolerant and superstitious here ?

Ahh agressive fanboys...

I have shot many enemies in both Mass Effects that wore heavy armor and they died just like the ones I killed in light armor. May have taken a little more effort, but they died just the same. With taking cover, shields and good old common sense, I see no reason why a soldier can’t wear something light and comfortable that allowed them more freedom of movement. When I was a female soldier, I always wore light armor because I hated the bulk of heavy.

There is nothing wrong with a bit of fan service in moderation. They don’t have her moonlighting as a dancer in Afterlife.

The people who keep saying stripper/catsuit are exactly the same as if i kept saying you want her to wear a burqa.

But light armor is not Ash's "look" Ash is a soldier, with thick armor and big guns.  The quote in my sig is lifted directly from ME1.  Other characters amy favor lighter armors:  Miranda, Liara, Mordin, Thane, Kasumi.  For them, such armor may be totally appropriate.  But Ash is the definition of the tough, reliable marine.  No tech grenades or biotics for her, just guns and armor.

This may be a good look, but it's not a good look for Ashley.  Unless they're rewriting her, which is a distinct possibility.

Not quite.  Most people seem to be fined with her wearing that jumpuit on the Normandy.  It's wearing it out into combat and especially in space that most people have an issue.

Or maybe she grew up  Now seriously this thread is getting ridiculous...I understand that some people prefer style to substance but please there are many comic books and other places where you can feast your eyes or other things so why not letting those who want characters coherent to established lore be?

But you said it right here.  Some people prefer practical looking stuff.  I'm one of them, in fact, I'm a particularly strong supporter of practicality and realism (which is in fact important to some degree in all but the softests of sci fi), though I realize many other people think of it as boring, or unecessary.

iakus: Ty for that quote by the way.  It says it all.  Ashely is not the type to prefer speed and flimsy armor over big guns and big armor.

You guys are being too conservative for a gaming forum. If they don't include a heavy space suit for ashley, than use your imagination and pretend she has one until a DLC comes out.
