Was that... ...Ashley?

A. Made a Spectre
B. Is now undergoing more stealth missions
to believe that she would have a stealthier suit.
Cause hell, Saren, Tela Vasir, and Nihlus were Spectres, and so was Shepard. Not one of them had a stealth suit.
All wore armor.
Personally, I think Ash's new look is fine. But I'd like to hear the lore behind the change.

what exactly Jacob was supposed to be in terms of class, but I think at
least a soldier, which is to say, the most heavily armed and armored
class in the game should get some decent armor. It's especially bad
considering Kaiden gets actual armor, and makes me wonder
(sarcastically) whether BioWare mixed up their classes in between
games.
Jacob was an Alliance Corsair, he's a more accomplished soldier than Ashley.
You realize that the class system is not actually a thing that's acknowledged in the ME universe, right? It's only a UI thing for building your character. It's not a matter of "Oh Jacob you're a sentinel, you don't wear heavy armor."
Cause, you know, Corsairs are a bigger deal than Spectres...
The class system was obivously cut and dry in ME1. Wrex was a vanguard, Garrus an infiltrator, Tali an engineer, etc.
In ME2, they deviated from it. I mean, you can still "classify" characters, but you'll often find some overlap in the characters and their classes. For example, concussive shot is a soldier power in ME2, but Garrus, an established infiltrator, uses it.
Since Ash is established as a soldier, I would expect her to be portrayed as such. I'm not being sexist; I would just like to see them honor the character as she was established unless there's a VERY good reason for her to change. Vasir was a Spectre and she had armor on. Liara isn't suddenly wearing skin-tight spandex in ME3, so why is Ash?

Me too! At the VERY beginning of ME1 Kaidan comments to Ashley if you ask her if she's seen Nihlus:
Shepard: "Have you seen a turian spectre around?"
Ashley: "There aren't any turians on Eden Prime, not sure if I could tell if one was a spectre anyway..*smile*"
Kaidan: "If you'd seen this guy you'd know. Carries enough firepower to wipe out a whole platoon."
Of everything that we know about spectres they do their job the best they know how, according to their individual training and strengths. Ashley was never a stealth heavy character, she's more upfront and she would carry a crap load of weapons being a soldier which would also indicate power armor if we follow logic instead of, let's make her pwetty.
Bang on with your other points.

I doubt she'd be allowed to wear that on her hand if she weren't a Spectre
And Ashley is capable of adapting, so just because she started life as a heavy weapons person, dosen't mean that's her only talent. And nihlus on eden prime is a bad example, that wasn't a stealth mission, that was an assault.

It was supposed to be a stealth mission. The Geth attack called for the use of weapons. And I think the whole "wipe out a whole platoon" thing was an exagerration. (Though I don't doubt that Nihlus could do it, given the chance)

The moment the Normandy recieved the call for help it stopped being a stealh mission. Nihlus loaded for bear as did Shepard.

Her face is a lot prettier if anything. Can we at least agree on that?
As graphic potential and graphical prowess gets better, characters in a series of games get makeovers all the time.
The best one I can think of is Meryl Silverburgh, between MGS and MGS4 she gained more muscle, or perhaps she was always meant to be buff but they couldn't show it on the original Playstation.
Ashley could use some muscle, that is the only thing she is now missing. But her face does give a sense of strength of character and to me that's good enough, but she could always be made better.

I would agree that the graphics even from ME1 to 2 and now 3 give more detail and depth to all the characters faces. I don't think she's "prettier" so much as...better rendered. I mean they didn't change her face. It's definitely the same face model. I think they might have tweaked her eye makeup a bit but that looks to be all. The hair down goes a long way to making her look completely different.

Spectres don't just do stealth missions and they don't just do combat missions. They have a variety of duties, some peaceful, some not. Whereas a pure soldier has one job - run and gun. Ash has clearly taken on a different role in her work as a Spectre and probably has a whole new set of skills that go with it (generally speaking, not specifically for combat).
I'm ready to get behind that sure. One thing that will unbelievably ****** me off though is if it's okay for Ash to wear light/casual outfit to work and my Shep is stuck in tank armor the whole game and she's been an infiltrator this whole time... Or if Kaidan wears heavier duty armor, just 'cause... It would make even less sense for Ash to go all light weigth on us and Kaida go hardcore. I mean why do that when it's established their roles are the way other way around?
I don't have anything against characters getting new abilities OF COURSE they would in the span of 2-3 years, but no amount of excuse is going to explain it if BioWare willy nilly decides to redesign people the way they want to just for the heck of it. It's their game, they can do whatever they want, doesn't mean we have to agree it makes any sense.

Ash is a hardcore soldier who wears the heaviest armor, allowing her to do her job of gunning at the front the best she can. Kaidan's a Sentinel who runs around in lightweight suits because he didn't get the physical training to deal with the weight of full badass armor.
As long as I can put Ash in to something remeniscent of her ME1 look or something else big and badass, I'll be fine I guess... but it won't stop me being pissed off with this continuation of the godawful catsuit trend.

I'm pretty sure it's said you get the Normandy because Spectre's are supposed to have their own ship.
If Spectres weren't expected to get into heavy combat frequently, then they wouldn't be picking people like Ashley and Shepard. You don't recruit great soldiers like that and then try to turn them into James Bond.
edit: Plus all the other spectres we've seen have worn pretty heavy armour
further edit: Except for light armoured Shepard in ME1, I guess
Maybe I was wrong about that point, if so I concede. However, I thought it was Udina who gave Shepard the ship and not the counsel. I thought he said, “You’ll need your own ship...a crew..” Because of the specific mission Shepard was going to be on. Udina and Anderson wanted him to go after Saren, wanted him to succeed and gave him resources to help. The Normandy was an Alliance vessel, it didn’t belong to the counsel as far as I can remember. Again, recalling from sheer memory and I have had no coffee yet, could be wrong.
And about what someone said about Nihlus being loaded with fire-power, he wasn’t. If I recall, when he was un-boarding the Normandy, didn’t he just have a pistol? Maybe something more on his back, but I think he just had a pistol in his hand. I could be wrong about that too, having just recall from memory. I think Kaidan’s blurb about him being about to wipe out a colony was just an exaggeration much like Ashley’s “Can’t outrun bullets” comment. Not to be taken seriously, but to give weight to the situation. Kind of like “catsuit”.

Honestly, I'm believing that Ashley will be given Vasir's armor with a quick retouch in some areas. But because Kaidan had gotten this brand new armor made specially for him, it'd be cheap for Ash to get a hand-me-down so they decided to give her a unique civies jumpsuit. I'm not sure what Kaidan will be wearing, but I'm betting it'll be recolor of the basic ME1 civs.
I pray fervently that you are right.

Thanks! I was trying to remember but kept drawing blanks.
He still had the same amount of weaponry that I did, or Ashley or Kaidan or Jenkins. Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Pistol and Sniper Rifle. Which is why I believe Kaidan’s comment was not meant to be taken seriously.
